Siete pronte per un luuuuuuungo post??? Perché oggi vi SVELO il motivo misterioso che mi ha tenuto tanto impegnata negli ultimi mesi, l'assenza di post, l'assenza da internet, l'assenza dalla craft room...

Are you ready for a veeeeery long post??? Because today I'm going to reveal the reason why in the last months I have been away from the internet and the blog world and from the craft room...

Riuscite a cogliere dalle foto la nostra emozione???

Avete capito bene é un nuovo nido dove io+nicola+penny ci trasferiremo al piú presto!

Ci sono voluti mesi e mesi, prima per trovarla (siamo ESTREMAMENTE delicati e pignoli su molte cose), poi per fermarla, poi soprattutto per capire e sbrigare tutte le cose e i mille problemi burocratici e logistici di comprare una casa in un paese straniero. Vi lascio solo immaginare notti insonni, giornate passate al telefono con banche o su internet, e mille pensieri di ogni tipo :(

Gli ultimi mesi della mia vita son stati dedicati praticamente solo a quello... tanto che la cosa é diventata quasi un incubo piú che un sogno (ma mi é stato detto che questo puó succedere e che con il tempo passa.. lo spero!!!)! Anche adesso che la cosa é sicura, restano i tanti dubbi e le preoccupazioni di queste situazioni: ci troveremo bene? e soprattutto come sará il vicinato? (domanda da porsi sempre e cmq, ma a maggior ragione essendo in terra straniera ahimé) ecc.ecc.

Ma ora, incubo o sogno che sia, é reale ed é lí e ci aspetta per una nuova fase della nostra vita!

La casa si trova nella periferia verde e residenziale della nostra cittadina, molto vicina a dove viviamo ora in affitto. Le chiavi le abbiamo appena avute ma ci traferiremo tra almeno un paio di mesi perché ci sono alcuni lavoretti che dobbiamo far fare (pavimenti ovunque e un bagno da rifare, oltre a una risistemata generale perché dentro non é davvero tenuta molto bene ahimé) per cui preparatevi perché d'ora in poi si apre una nuova "rubrica" del blog, dedicata alla sistemazione e ridecorazione del nostro nido, che come mi hanno suggerito alcune amiche, potrebbe chiamarsi "making a house a home.. on a budget!" ("trasformare una casa.. risparmiando!")

Spero la cosa non vi annoierá, ma siccome io adoro seguire i blog che parlano di decorazione e makeover, penso e spero di fare cosa gradita facendovi seguire le mie idee, pensieri e progetti (che naturalmente si affiancheranno ai miei soliti post di creazioni!)

Siccome immagino giá parte delle domande che potrebbero venirmi fatte dalle mie amiche bloggers (domande che io stessa farei perché sono supercuriosa) rispondo qui sotto in anticipo con delle specie di FAQ :)

1- no! non abbiamo intenzione di trasferirci in UK a vita (o almeno lo spero..) ma dato che la permanenza qui pare prolungarsi (nicola ormai vive qui da 5 anni e io ho fatto su e giú per qualche anno e ormai son fissa qui) ci pareva senza senso continuare a buttare via un sacco di soldi in affitto e cosí almeno ora abbiamo un nostro nido!

2- no! non é una casa enorme e costosissima!!! in realtá l'apparenza inganna (lo dico perché molti amici vedendo la foto mi hanno fatto notare che a prima vista sembra molto grande e capiente)! E' una tipica casetta singola inglese moderna di circa 110 mq, vivibilissimi ma cmq contenuti e in certi casi pure strettini (vedrete gli interni poi) .. é un pó piú piccola di quella dove viviamo ora, ma ci si accontenta no problem!

3- si! ha un piccolo giardinetto dietro!

4- si! avró anche qui la craft room naturalmente! che finalmente decoreró come voglio io e sfrutteró anche nell'altezza con mensole e altro!

5- si! finalmente potró riempirla di chiodiiiiii :)) quadri, mensole, decorazioni ovunque!!! non mi pare vero (qui in uk nelle case in affitto generalmente nn si possono toccare i muri, non é come in italia che si ha piú libertá di personalizzare, almeno dalla mia lunga esperienza di affitti sia in famiglia che da sola, non so nelle altre nazioni come sia..)

6- si! i mobili saranno gli stessi che avevo nella casa attuale ma potró sbizzarrirmi con pavimenti, muri, e quant'altro, ho giá tutto in testa da mesi!

Ecco, ed ora che ho finalmente condiviso con voi amiche di blog questa notizia cosí importante per noi... vi posso solo augurare un buonissimo week end e arrivederci al prossimo post (la serie "I love sets" continua naturalmente prestissimo!!!)

Can you read from the pictures our excitement???

You understood correctly, this is our new nest, where me+nicola+penny are going to move very soon! It took us months to find it because we are very fussy and picky, and then it took ages to sort out all the bureacratic and logistic problems (obviously buying a house in a country that is not your home country is not that easy at all).. You can only imagine all the days, weeks, months spent on the internet, on the phone with banks, and the sleepless nights.. it was becoming a nightmare rather than a dream (but I hope this bad feeling will go away soon enough).. but now it's not a dream/nightmare anymore, it's real and there!

The house is in the green and quiet surroundings of our town, close to where we are renting now. We just collected the keys but we are moving there in a few months, because we have to do some decoration works first (changing all the floorings, a bathroom makeover and a general refurbishment because inside it's not in very good conditions) so be ready because from now on there will be a new blog category/column on the new house decoration/makeover, that, as some friends suggested, could be called something like "Making a house a home... on a budget!"

I hope I won't bore you, but because I love to follow blogs that feature decoration projects and makeover, I really hope you will enjoy following my step by step path to the home of my dreams!

Finally, as I can imagine that some blogger friends could be asking some questions about this post (the same questions that I would ask, as I am veeeeery curios!) I am writing a sort of FAQ section down here with some info and curiosities :)

1- no! we are not planning to live in the UK forever (or at least I hope not, because I miss very much my own country, Italy) but because we've been here f0r a long time (I did a period in italy as well... but all together nicola has been here for 5 years) it seems like a waste of money to keep on renting.

2- no! it's not a massive and super expensive house! To be honest it may seem big from the outside, but it's 110 square metres inside, that is absolutely ok, but believe me, some rooms are really really tiny (you will see in the future indoor pictures)

3- yes! it has a small garden in the rear!

4- yes! I will have my craft room that I am looking forward to decorate!

5- yes! I will finally be able to fill the house with nails :) nails for pictures, shelves, decorations etc! Unfortunately in the Uk, most of the times (for our long renting experiences) you can't touch walls :( ... in italy is usually different, you have more freedom to personalize the house, I don't know in the other countries...

6- yes! the furniture will be the same of our current rented house but I am looking forward to decorate with new floorings, new wall paint colours etc.! I have been dreaming and making projects for months :)

I love sets - part 1

Allora, iniziamo con il dire che se non si era capito finora dal mio blog, io ADORO gli abbinamenti cromatici, di stoffe, di materiali, di accessori e dedico ore ed ore della mia vita craftistica a cercare i giusti abbinamenti .. e la cosa a volte mi fa perdere fin troppo tempo, ma non posso farci nulla!

Detto questo, in questo ultimo periodo (e tuttora) sto lavorando a diversi set di creazioni, per lo piú "da borsa", alcuni per me medesima, alcuni per rimpinguare un pó il negozietto su dawanda e alcuni commissionati. Almeno per un pó ho qualcosa da mostrarvi :) fiuuuuuuuu ^_^

Inziamo quindi con questo primo piccolo set commissionato formato da un copriagendina, una zipper e un portaocchiali. La stoffina adorabile con i gufi si prestava perfettamente all'abbinamento con il vellutino marrone! Io li trovo adorabili!!!

First of all I think that if you are a reader of my blog, you will have realized so far, that I am fond of matching colours, materials, fabrics, accessories, I can't help myself! I spend so much time choosing the right kind of mix and match!

So, in this last period I've been working on some accessories set (mostly bag and purses sets) that I would like to show you in the next posts! some are for me, some are for my dawanda shop and some are made on order.

This first set is a organizer cover, a simple zipper and specs case! I love the cute owl fabric, and I think it perfectly matches the brown corduroy! I find them so cute!!!

Birdie-mania

E' arrivata quella stagione dell'anno in cui il mio giardino si riempie di piccoli amici con un tenero musetto. ali, piume e un canto dolce e rilassante. La primavera porta con se' nelle campagne inglesi questi deliziosi amici e cosí é tutto un cinguettare, cantare e volare avanti e indietro di pettirossi, passeri, cinciarelle, gazze, piccioni, corvi, merli e ogni tanto gabbiani.

Mai come da quando vivo qui ho imparato a guardare gli uccelli, a sentirne il canto e ad apprezzarne la dolcezza e la bellezza.

I miei preferiti? i pettirossi! .. che ho ritratto in questi due runner commissionati da una cara amica!

Il runner per la veritá é comodamente giá "quasi pronto" bordato in vendita da ikea... e al resto ci ho pensato io, un pó di fantasia, tante stoffe nei miei stili e colori preferiti e tanta pazienza con carta termofusibile e macchina da cucire! (il pattern é come sempre ispirato al meraviglioso uccellino di Cinderberry stitches!)

Buon weekend e buona primavera! (qui oggi é arrivata direttamente l'estate!!! ma non penso durerá...)

It's the season of the year when cute little feathered friends start to visit my garden, so I enjoy listening to the lovely song they sing and to watch them flying around. Here in the UK, where I live now,as soon as the spring comes there are lots and lots of birds in my garden and in my surroundings.. robins, sparrows, titbirds, magpies, pigeons, crows, blackbirds and sometimes seagulls. My favourites? I love robins! I also sew them in these two cute table runners that a friend asked me to make.

The runner is already made (for lazy girls like me!) and is sold by the metre at ikea... so I just decorated it with a lot of cute fabrics, heat'n'bond and some patience on the sewgin machine! (the pattern of the bird is inspired by the bautiful one from cinderberry stitches)

E`maggio e la primavera é (o dovrebbe essere!) nel pieno dei suoi colori, profumi e sensazioni. Anche a casa mia si respira primavera. A tavola non mancano MAI dei fiori, generalmente bianchi o rosa (i miei colori preferiti per i fiori).

La tavola imbandita in modo semplice per il pranzo e cena di tutti i giorni ha gli stessi colori dei fiori.. Amo la semplicitá.. e amo la dolcezza!

It's may and spring is in full bloom (or at least it should be!) with beautiful colours, smells and feelings. Even in my place you can breath some spring! There is always a bunch of flowers on the table, usually white and/or pink (my favourite flowers colours).

The table is set up very simply for the daily lunch and dinner and it matchs the flowers colours. I love simplicity and sweetness!

La mia amata credenza pian piano si riempie di nuove cosette, piccoli vizi che ogni tanto mi tolgo ;) Il galletto che mi fa letteralmente impazzire l'ho comprato a Edinburgo da John Lewis!

My beloved dresser is becoming more and more filled with new arrivals ..some treats for me every now and again ;) The fabric rooster (which I am in love with) was a gift I made for myself at John Lewis in Edinburgh!

Anche il salotto, che avevate visto l'ultima volta in versione natalizia, ha cambiato vestito. E' bianco e verde, un pó troppo poco colorato per i miei gusti ma si fa quel che si puó, per il momento lo lascio cosí... ma vorrei intorno al caminetto un bel bunting con stoffe color pastello e ridpingere il mobile ikea di verde salvia/grigio.

The lounge has changed its colours since the last time you saw it (xmas). Now it's sage green and white. Not enough colour for my tastes but it's ok for now (I want to put a springy pastel colours bunting on the fireplace and paint the ikea chest of drawers grey/sage green)

Anche il giardino ha cambiato aspetto, il verde smeraldo predomina, e gli alberi hanno meravigliosi boccioli e piccoli fiori neonati che profumano e regalano colore.

Also the garden is feeling more springly. A strong green everywhere and sweet pink blossoms with white newborn flowers that smell lovely and give the garden a coloured touch.

Poco fa mi sono fatta un regalo, da tempo sognavo una dslr (reflex digitale) ma visti i prezzi non potevo davvero permetterla. Fortuna o destino hanno voluto che un mio amico ne vendesse una di usata, che per me andava fin troppo bene, cosí affare fatto, una bella canon piena di mille comandi da imparare é arrivata a casa mia... naturalmente per portarla in giro avrei dovuto comprare una di quelle borse o zainetto super ingombranti (e un pó tristi, tutti neri....) cosí mi sono tirata su le maniche e le ho creato una casetta nuova e molto federica's style!

L`ispirazione é venuta da questa meraviglia creata dalla marty poco fa e un grosso aiuto nella creazione é venuta da questo dettagliato e ottimo tutorial che vi consiglio (io l`ho modificato moltissimo, dalle dimensioni alla forma, ma le istruzioni di base che ho usato sono quelle)... ed ecco cos'é nato!

I've been dreaming of a dslr for a long time but I couldn't really afford it because of the price, so when a friend of mine was in the process of selling his canon to upgrade to a newer one I couldn't resist the deal! Obviously I also needed a bag/case to carry it with me, but I didn't really fancied the bulky and black-and-so-dull you find in the shops, so I decided to give it a go and try to make one from scratch. Inspiration came from the cute one made by my friend marty and the instructions I used where from this detailed and very useful tutorial (I modified it quite a lot, I made it smaller and simpler, but the procedure was pretty much the same) .. so eventually here is the result!

Ok non é a prova d'acqua, non é nemmeno lontanamente ermetica.. (ma é bella imbottita! quello si!) peró é tanto carinaaaaaaaaaaa! prima o poi ne faró una di piú spaziosa (quando avróaltre lenti) e piú "ermetica" ma per il momento e per l'uso che ne faccio va piú che bene ;)

Well, to be honest with you, it's not watertight and it's not even remotely hermetic .. (but it is very padded!) but it's soooooooo cute" sooner or later (maybe when I'll have some more lens) I'll make a bigger, sturdier and safer one, but for now it's more than enough ;)

A scottish mini-holiday (part 3)

Eccoci all'ultima tappa del reportage scozzese.. oggi é il turno di Edinburgo, di cui ci si puó facilmente innamorare!

Piccola, medioevale, piena di storia e di carattere, piena di verde e di panorami mozzafiato dall'alto delle colline che la formano.

Siamo stati davvero fortunati, 4 giorni di sole continuo, ci siamo goduti la Scozia come poche volte si puó avere la fortuna di fare... ecco il perché delle foto con il cielo sempre azzurro, credo siano gli unici 4 gg di sole continuo nella storia della Scozia O__O

Here we are at the last post on my scottish holiday, today it's Edinburgh time, a lovely city you can easily fall in love with!

It's tiny, medieval, full of history and character, full of green and with some amazing landscape views you can enjoy from the higher hills.

We've been blessed by an amazing sun during all the four days of the holiday, I think this is incredible, we have been so lucky because this rarely happens in Scotland!!!

E per concludere un piccolo eye candy: Ness un negozietto trovato in centro a Edinburgo di cui mi sono FOLLEMENTE INNAMORATA! guardate le foto che ho fatto (sia alle vetrine che all'interno) e se volete visitate il loro sito (si puó fare shopping online!!!) e ditemi se mi potete dare torto???? Io credo che potrei tranquillamente trasferirmi dentro a quel negozio, sia per il tipo di colori ed arredamenti che per godermi tutte quelle delizie!

And eventually a little eye candy for you! It's Ness, a shop I found in Edinburgh and I fell head over heels in love with it, have a look at the pictures I took (both inside the shop and on the shop windows) and at their website (you can also shop online yeah) and tell me if you don't agree with me??!! I think I could easily move to live inside that shop, both for the colours and interiors and to enjoy all those beautiful yummy items!

A scottish mini-holiday (part 2)

Dopo il breve resoconto del matrimonio ecco il resto del reportage della breve vacanzina. Qualche foto che vi regalo sperando, come sempre, di farvi sognare e viaggiare un pó con me!

Let's start with the second part of the mini holiday in Scotland! After the wedding day it's now the moment to introduce you Balloch, in a Loch Lomond creek in the "Loch Lomond and the Trossach" national park, just a few miles from Glasgow. There is a beautiful park, with a castle overlooking the lake, and a walled garden and some lovely fields and paths.

Iniziamo da Balloch, piccolo villaggio che sorge su un'insenatura del lago Lomond, nel parco nazionale "Loch Lomond and the Trossach", a pochi km da Glasgow.

Un meraviglioso parco con annesso castello e giardino murato domina il lago.

Il villaggio é piccolissimo, ma siamo riusciti a mangiare (e bene!) in questo bel pub, caratteristico ed accogliente.

The village is tiny but full of pubs and restaurants. We ate (very well) in this nice pub, very cosy and pretty.

Altra tappa fondamentale intorno al Loch Lomond é sicuramente Luss, molto turistica e molto carina..

Another fundamental stop is Luss: tiny, pictoresque and very turistic...

E Tarbet, con un parco vista lago mozzafiato.. dove, grazie al tempo meraviglioso ci siamo rilassati e goduti lo scendere del sole

And also Tarbet, with a lovely park overlooking the lake, where, thanks to the lovely weather, we enjoyed relaxing and watching the sun set.

Sempre nel Parco Nazionale, ma piú a est, Il delizioso Callander, con un percorso riverside, tanti negozietti e pub, angoli nascosti tutti da scoprire e i monti che lo circondano dove gironzolare per sentieri e godersi poanorami, cascate e quiete.

Again in the National Park, but more east, there is Callander, really pretty, with a lovely riverside path, lots of shops and pubs, beautiful corners to discover and amazing mountains that surrounds it, where you can spend your time walking, hiking, enjoying the landscapes, the waterfalls and the peace.

Il lago katrina, dove, avendo tempo a disposizione (sia meterologico che cronologico), si puó girare a piedi o in bici lungo il suo contorno, o circumnavigare con questo bellissimo battello.

Katrina lake, where, if you have bot time and good weather, you can walk or cycle all around or you can have a go in the pictoresque boat you see down here.

E per finire il DELIZIOSO B&B che ci ha ospitati a Helensburgh, cittadina sull'oceano piú moderna e decisamente meno caratteristica, ma dove abbiamo mangiato davvero benissimo in un ristorante italiano!

And finally the lovely B&B where we've been sleeping in. It was in Helensburgh, on the ocean, a modern and not very folkloristic town, but there are a lot of restaurants and we ate really well in an italian one!
