bathroom moodboards + help and advice needed :)

Non vi starete tufando di me? ormai scrivo quasi ogni giorno!!! incredibile O_O !!! Ma adesso mi metto in piccola pausa web perché sono piena di lavoro da fare + casa da seguire.. beh pronte per un altro dei miei post soporiferi????!!!

Eccole qui come promesso.. le moodboards per aiutarmi a capire il look finale che avranno i bagni. Sono il frutto di un pó di tempo perso in photoshop e di molto ma molto tempo perso per prendere ispirazioni, sfogliare riviste, visitare siti, guardare per l'ennesima volta i mille files presenti nella cartella "home inspirations" del mio pc, e con Nicola a sfogliare cataloghi e visitare magazzini e shops vari...

Ecco qui sotto piú o meno, ma proprio piú o meno, come dovrebbero apparire i bagni una volta finiti... per lo meno nella mia testa :)

I prodotti che ho inserito sono esattamente o circa quelli acquistati, i colori sono quelli che vorrei dare come tema principale..

Il resto (accessori, disposizione esatta, decorazioni ecc.) si vedrá!

Here are the bathroom moodboards I prepared to visualize the final look I want to achieve in the new bathrooms we are redecorating. The products I inserted are more or less what we have just bought and the colours are the one we chose as main colour schemes..

The rest of the room (decorations, accessories, exact location etc.) is still to be decided!

L'en-suite avrá come colori principali il bianco, il legno rovere, l'azzurro/grigio tipico dei cottage provenzali. Lo stile sará misto.. la tradizione vittoriana della rubinetteria in stile, con pomelli bianchi e forme anticheggianti.

Sono stata in dubbio fino alla fine perché mi parevano TROPPO anticheggianti, ma qui in Uk vanno parecchio quindi speriamo di aver fatto la scelta giusta, cercheró di sdrammatizzarli con accessori allegri e rilassati! I sanitari sono un misto di moderno/country/ coccoloso (come lo definisco io!... puó un wc essere coccoloso?! O_O ebbene si!!! sappiate che nella mia testa puó!!!)

Una grande grande doccia é sempre stata il nostro sogno.. finalmente si realizzerá, e anche lei avrá la forma arrotondata (coccolosa, appunto!) che tanto amo. La cosa che amo in particolare tra quelle scelte é il mixer doccia, che sembra un lampione un pó retro, di quelli delle vie parigine :) ! Lo adoro!

Le pareti saranno in parte con perlinato a mezza altezza e in parte (dentro la doccia) con delle piastrelle effetto pietra bianche, opache e molto rustiche.

The en-suite bathroom will have the clours of the oak laminate wood flooring, the white of the sanitaryware and furniture and the french grey blue of accessories and walls. The style will be a mixture of the traditional victorian taps (I wasn't really sure about these but I like them and apparently they are very beloved here in the Uk, so hopefully we made the right choice), and the rustic/country charm of the sanitaryware and the modern confort of a big shower (but rounded, so my love for rounded soft shapes is satisfied)

The walls will be a mix of tongue and groove beadboards and stone effect opaque white tiles.

E il family bathroom, anche qui i colori saranno in teoria quelli del legno rovere del pavimento e del bianco di mobili e sanitari, ma anche un misto di verde/grigio/salvia per pareti e perlinato. Anche qui gli stessi sanitari e se riusciamo (lo scopriremo in itinere) metteremo il mobile ikea flaren, che vedete qui sotto, dove inserire il lavandino. Anche qui le piastrelle effetto pietra attorno a vasca e lavandino e rubinetteria vittoriana ma stavolta invece dei pomelli le crocette.

The family bathroom again, will have a basic colour scheme made by the oak wood colour, the white of sanitaryware and furniture, and the sage/grey green of beadboard, bathtub panel and accessories. Again rustic sanitaryware and victorian taps. If we can (we will discover it during the plumbing works) we will fit the flaren vanity unit.

Cosa ne dite?

..forse sono troppo fissata con colori e abbinamenti e dovrei vivere questo progetto in modo piú relax e menefreghista.. ma non so cosa farci é piú forte di me!!! Inoltre é un'ottima terapia per i brutti pensieri, dedicandosi a questo progetto anima e corpo, non si ha molto tempo restante per pensare ad altro.. magra consolazione lo so, ma funziona!

*** piccolo sondaggio***

Siccome per me i vostri commenti e il vostro parere contano, vi lascio anche con un piccolo sondaggio (che mi serve egoisticamente per chiarirmi le idee su un dubbio che ci assale sulla disposizione del family bathroom).. la domanda (per chi ha voglia di rispondere) é:

avete o conoscete qualcuno che ha la vasca da bagno posizionata sotto la finestra del bagno? esteticamente trovo questa soluzione molto bella, infatti in moltissime immagini tratte da internet e riviste, si trova questa soluzione (per esempio, tra i tanti, vedi qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui, qui e qui). Per noi non sarebbe una soluzione estetica ma assolutamente pratica, data la forma strana del bagno che in quel modo (spostando la vasca sotto la finestra) ci lascerebbe piú spazio per posizionare il resto, dato che al momento é davvero tutto schiacciato e mal-locato. Per l'idraulico non ci sono problemi, ma quello che ovviamente temiamo é il problema dell'apertura finestra, che, dato anche il fatto che qui i davanzali sono molto ma molto profondi (e interni) renderebbe la cosa poco agevole se non entrando con un piede nella vasca (sempre che questo sia davvero poi un grosso problema.. é questo che non riusciamo a valutare!).

Consigli? esperienze? opinioni?

because your opinion and suggestions are very important to me, I would like to ask you about a problem/decision we are facing. Regarding the family bathroom, have you ever had or do you know anybody who has the bath tub under the window? I think this solution is really beautiful (see as an example here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here e here) but I am afraid of the problem of the window opening, especially because in the UK the windowsills are very very deep. I am afraid it won't be possible to close the window without entering with a foot in the bathtub (in this case, is this a real problem? maybe not). This decision would not be taken for aesthetic reasons but because architecturally is the best one to free some space that is really cluttered at the moment (see images above) For the plumber is not a problem so it's just a decision we have to take! Thank you for sharing your experiences I would really appreciate it!

Stamp carving (la nuova mania)

Ok. Alzi la mano chi non ha mai fatto esperimenti con le patate alle elementari, intagliandole per creare "pseudo-stampini" spartani e con scadenza??? e chi alle medie non ha scavato nel linoleum per produrre quadri-di-dubbio gusto ad effetto un pó astratto???

Beh, l'importante é fare tesoro degli insegnamenti acquisiti, perché non si sa mai, e quando meno te lo aspetti, in un pomeriggio di inizio giugno, potreste venire colpiti da un raptus di "timbrite" acuta come é capitato a me! In realtá, vedendo in rete sempre piú frequentemente delle bravissime artiste della creazione di timbri, mi sono fatta contagiare e ho acquistato, ancora mesi fa, il mini kit per iniziare (proprio mini) .. ma al primo impatto mi sono subito arenata :( ho abbandonato l'idea per poi riprenderla con piú pazienza e convinzione e devo dire che stavolta la soddisfazione é stata maggiore!

Ok non sono perfetti, ok la scritta é obbrobriosa (ma da lontano vi assicuro che fa la sua porca figura), ok piú piccoli di 3 cm non riesco a farli, ok sono quasi sono uccellini (w la fantasia) ok, ok, ok ma quanto carini sono???

Vorrei trovare strumentini piú affilati per cercare di migliorarmi, soprattutto nelle scritte, ma nel frattempo mi sono allenata!

So, here is my new passion! After carving the potatoes at primary school and lino sheets at secondary school, here is a proper way of carving, finally to create something really useful and cute! I had bought the "essential" kit ages ago, but the first approach with stamp carving wasn't so happy :( I actually decided to give up immediately! Luckily in a hot june afternoon I thought of giving it another try, and this time, with more patience, I really got some results!

Ok, they are not really perfect (the wording is so ugly!!!), ok I can't carve things smaller then 3 cm, ok those are mainly birds and hearts (a bit boring..), ok, ok, ok ... but aren't they soooo cute?!

I am looking for some smaller tools to improve in details. In the meantime I got some training! Here is the result!

Riguardo i materiali, come potete vedere dalla foto sopra, ho usato gomma e strumenti della linea Speedball, reperibile online in negozi USA e UK. Ma so che si puó usare anche della semplice gomma per cancellare, o meglio ancora dell'adigraf (la gomma verde) che forse si puó trovare anche in italia nelle cartlerie ben fornite e degli attrezzini per intagliare il legno (sgorbie ecc.).

About materials and tools, I learnt that you can use just simple rubber erasers or even better, adigraf and carving tools. Anyway, as you can see from the pictures above, I used the mini kit from Speedball that is designed for rubber carving that you can buy online from UK and USA shops.

Eccomi qua, giusto per darvi un assaggio di quella che é la casupola al momento, e che spero sará ancora per poco... e per farvi partecipi di parte dei progetti (per chi ha voglia, pazienza e curiositá di seguirli!)

Ecco gli interni della casina al momento, vuoti e beigeolini, come un "blank canvas", tutti da rielaborare... La casa cosí com'é vista dalle foto sembra anche essere messa bene, ma l'apparenza inganna (ne siamo stati ingannati anche noi, nonostante le tre visite, prima dell'acquisto), tutte le finiture sono rovinate, i muri sporchi, scheggiati, bucati, strisciati, i battiscopa mezzi distrutti, i bagni non ne parliamo.. insomma c'é da lavorare!

Here I am, to give you a taste of how the house is right now (and hopefully won't be anyomore very soon) and to share some ideas and projects with you (if you are interested in!!!)

These are the home interiors currently, a real white/cream blank canvas to decorate totally. The house seems quite nice from the pictures, but the pictures cheat, the truth is that it's very outdated and worn out and needs a lot of TLC!

{entrata}

la zona che al momento mi piace di piú, soprattutto il pavimento che adoro e che ovviamente lasceremo! Non so ancora come diventerá, non c'é molto spazio per potersi sbizzarrire, ma ho in mente un tavolino stile butler's tray e se riesco una piccola panchetta prima dell'inizio della scala, a sinistra, per sedersi e togliersi le scarpe. I colori penso saranno grigio-rosa-rosso.

{hallway}

at the moment my favourite area, maybe because of the wooden floor (that will obviously stay!). There is not much room to create here, but I think I will fit a butler's tray and maybe a small bench near the staircase (on the left) to seat and remove your shoes. The colours will probably be grey-pink-red.

{sala da pranzo}

ovviamente la moquette se ne andrá di corsa per lasciare spazio a pavimento laminato color rovere, simile all'entrata. Qui la stanza credó sará molto simile alla nostra attuale sala da pranzo, quindi credenza + tavolo, forse una bella mensola e delle belle tende per quella grande finestra sulla sinistra.

{dining room}

Obviously the carpet will go away very soon (I hate it) to leave room for a nice oak laminate flooring, like the one in the hallway. Here the room will probably be very similar to my current dining room, so dresser+table and maybe some shelves as well, plus a nice curtain for the big window.

{salotto}

forse la foto non rende l'idea, ma é molto piccolo e non so nemmeno se e come riusciremo a incastrare il nostro divano 3posti ektorp, senza considerare che vorrei aggiungere un altro divanetto 2posti o due poltroncine, in modo da avere un pó piú di sedute quando abbiamo ospiti. Anche qui la moquette sará a breve solo un ricordo e metteremo lo stesso pavimento laminato rovere. I muri? stavo pensando a un color verde/grigio salvia solo nella parete del caminetto, dove ci saranno caminetto al centro e librerie ikea bianche ai lati, mi pare il bianco risalterebbe parecchio sul verde salvia. Vedremo!

A sinistra andrá prababilmente il mobile per la tv e in mezzo il coffee table che giá abbiamo. Non credo ci stará null'altro :)

{lounge}

maybe you can't realize from the pic but is really really tiny, I don't even know if we will be able to fit our big 3seat ektorp sofa! let alone another 2seat sofa or two armchairs that I would like to add for guests! Again, carpet out and oak laminate flooring in. About the walls, I am thinking of painting the wall behind the fireplace sage green/french grey, I think the white fireplace and the ikea white libraries I'll put on the sides will look nicer with a green/grey background. I'll see. Finally the tv cabinet on the left and the coffee table in the centre. I don't think I will be able to fit anything else here :)

{cucina}

qui c'é il vero tasto dolente della casa :( E' minuscola, ma proprio un buco, non c'é nemmeno il frigo grande, ma solo uno piccino da incasso. Sapevamo di questo problema quando l'abbiamo comprata ma abbiamo chiuso un occhio (o anche due) perché tutto il resto era piú o meno come desideravamo e soprattutto era una casa nel nostro budget. Inoltre la lavatrice al momento é posizionata in cucina (dove c'e il buco) ma a me proprio non va giú di avere i panni sporchi accanto alle lasagne :( Ora stiamo quindi valutando opzioni varie: allargarla un pó verso il giardino (creando anche una piccola lavanderia), fare una veranda esterna (conservatory), convertire il garage, ecc.ecc. o semplicemente lasciarla cosí e portare pazienza! vedremo! questa é la decisione piú grande (e costosa....) che stiamo affrontando :(

{kitchen}

that's the real problem of the house :( is very small, really really tiny, there's not even a proper tall fridge, just a small low level embedded one, amazing! We knew about this problem before buying, but we chose it anyway because the rest of the house was ok and it was on budget. Also, the washing machine is located in the kitchen (where the hole was left) and I am really not a fan of putting dirty clothes near lasagne :(

So now we are considering various options: extend it in the garden (creating a small utility room as well), build a conservatory, convert the garage, etc. or simply let it as it is and cope with that! We'll see! this is the biggest decision (and the more expensive, too) that we are dealing with :(

{bagnetto}

al piano terra, nulla da segnalare, se non che non verrá mai usato (come nella nostra casa attuale) e sará un deposito scarpe, appendiabiti, lettiera Penny, e cianfrusaglie varie!

{cloakroom}

nothing to talk about here, it will probably never be used (like in our current house) and it will become a storage room for shoes, coats and penny's toilet!

{camera matrimoniale}

grandina ma sviluppata tutta in lunghezza, quindi poco sfruttabile! complimenti all'architetto! mah...

In qualche modo metteremo letto e comodini poggiati sul muro in fondo (che vorrei dipingere di light french grey blue.. forse su perlinato ma ancora nn so). La cassettiera forse non ci sta, in ogni caso sará sotto le finestre. Dalla foto non si vede l'armadio a muro, che al momento é uno scomparto vuoto e dovremo farci montare mensole e pali vari (tanto da studiare e progettare anche qui!)

Chiaramente anche qui la moquette lascerá posto a laminato, proabilmente color rovere invecchiato (sul grigio) molto provenzale, un colore che trovo adatto alle camere che avranno colori pastello..

{master bedroom}

a good size bedroom but it's all developed in lenght, so the architecture is not really good in my opinion. We will fit the bed and bedside table on the bottom wall but I am not sure if the chest of drawers will fit somewhere. The bottom wall will probably be painted french grey blue maybe on tongue and groove paneling. The built-in wardrobe opposite the bed is completely empty and I will have to study some shelving system to organize it.

The carpet, again, will go, and we'll put some nice laminate flooring in the shade of old oak, almost grey, I really love it, very french.

{bagnetto en-suite}

(collegato alla camera), beh é forse la stanza piú grande e sporporzionata di tutta la casa! Mai vista un en-suite cosí grande in UK O_O

Qui il progetto é quasi pronto, dobbiamo solo comprare sanitari e materiale vario e si parte! La vasca se ne andrá per lasciare spazio a una bella doccia grande e moderna. Le pareti saranno in parte di perlinato a mezza altezza e in parte piastrelle semplici a effetto pietra. I colori saranno bianco e blue-grigio, il pavimento sará laminato rovere sbiancato adatto ai bagni, e altro non vi svelo se no che sorpresa é?!

{en-suite bathroom}

is probably the biggest room in the house! Amazing!

Here the project is almost ready, we only need to buy the sanitaryware and other materials! The bathtub will go and in its place there'll be a big modern shower. The wall will be partly tongue and groove panels (half height) and partly stone effect tiles. The colours will be white and french grey blue, the flooring will be a partly bleached oak laminate flooring... and I am not telling anything else otherwise it won't be a surprise!

{futura craft room}

tolti i dinosaurini (unico lavoro giá fatto!) diventerá il mio nido! Il pavimento sará sempre laminato, i mobili saranno degli economicissimi ikea di pino (gli stessi che gia ho) e i colori saranno verde/grigio salvia e rosso. Probabilmente una parete sará perlinata ma non sono ancora sicura...

{craft room to be}

the dinasours will go (already gone actually... the only work we've done so far!!!) and this will become my nest! The flooring will be old grey oak laminate, furniture will be the same I already have (very cheap and dull ikea pine shelvings and tables) and colours will be sage green and red. Maybe a wall will be paneled but I am not sure yet..

{terza cameretta}

sará al momento un piccolo studietto e in futuro se e quando mai sará, diventerá la cameretta per il bimbo/a. Per ora cambieremo solo il pavimento, il resto si vedrá!

{third bedroom}

it will be an office/pc room at the moment and in the future "if and when", it will become a nursery. For now we are only changing the flooring.

{bagno}

che come vedete é fermo a vent'anni fa! Prego notare la chiccheria del copriwater rosso ;)

Anche questo bagno verrá capovolto e rigirato ocme un calzino. I colori qui saranno verde grigio salvia e bianco. Il pavimento sempre in laminato rovere sbiancato. La vasca rimarrá solo vasca (senza la doccia sopra) e i sanitari saranno un pó piú giovani e moderni!

{family bathroom}

that, as you can see, is quite outdated (please note the beautiful red wc cover!!!)

This bathroom will be gutted out like the other one. The colours will be sage green and white. The flooring laminate again (the one that is ok with the water). The bathtub will be changed and there won't be a shower over (for now), also the sanitaryware will be young a more modern!

Vi lascio con una foticina del giardino com'é ora. Ovvero semplice semplice semplice. Probabilmente toglieremo quella pedana in legno (lo spazio per tavolo e sedie c'é giá adiacente alla casa) perché si mangia (almeno visualmente) una grossa porzione del (gia piccolo) giardino. Poi, anche se io, pollice verde zero, vorrei tanto piantare fiori e piante decorative, per renderlo, anche se piccolo, un pó piú colorato! chissá...

And finally a pic of the garden as it is now, very plain and simple. We will probably remove the wooden patio area (we already have one out of the lounge) because it takes so much space from the (already small) garden. I don't have green thumb at all, but I'd like to plant some flowers to give more colours...

Chissá di tutti i progetti e le idee scritte quante si avvereranno effettivamente??? mah! Cmq vi terró aggiornate ;) .. e ora scappo a scegliere le piastrelle per il bagno (so giá che ci vorranno ore ed ore.. come ce ne sono volute ieri per scegliere i pavimenti per i bagni... O_O help!)

I'd like to know how much of all these projects will really be completed??? who knows! I'll keep you posted anyway ;)

Spring in Wiltshire

Prima che la primavera finisca per lasciare spazio all'estate (anche se qui l'estate nn é di casa!) voglio mostrarvi qualche foto scattata (per esercitare la nuova macchinetta) un mesetto abbondante fa.

Il luogo é Lacock, che giá vi ho presentato in passato. Un piccolo gioiello. Con i fiori e i colori primaverili assume tutta un'altra atmosfera.. un vero piacere per gli occhi e per l'anima passeggiare per le sue viuzze, ammirare i piccoli cottage, incontrare piccoli amici curiosi e perdersi con lo sguardo nel panorama dei colli che lo circondano!

Oggi saró breve con le parole.. ma lunga con le immagini!

Before summer takes the place of spring (not really, at least in this country...) I want to show you some pictures I took more than a month ago around the countryside that surrounds me. I wanted to train a bit with the new camera!

The place is Lacock, again. A small precious jewel. With spring colours and flowers it has a completely different atmosphere ... a real pleasure to enjoy with the eyes and with the soul strolling around the tiny lanes, admiring the cute chocolate box cottages, meeting sweet curious friends and watching the amazing landscapes of cotsowolds hills that surrounds it.

I won't be long with the words today, I will let the images talk.
