Dopo aver speso non so piú quante sterline di campioni, dopo aver tappezzato la casa di prove colore che ora sembra un quadro astratto, dopo aver passato giorni a guardare e riguardare per l'ennesima volta le centinaia di foto di ispirazione che ho salvato nel pc e i ritagli su quadernoni vari... ho alla fine deciso, come anticipato, di puntare sul neutro! I colori saranno tutti tinte neutrali, bianco panna, beigeolini, crema, natural tan ecc.
Punteró tutto sui mobili e accessori che daranno il colore che tanto amo, alle stanze!
Gli infissi saranno come da tradizione bianchi, il legno delle porte e dei battiscopa verrá ridipinto con uno smalto bianco effetto satin (al momento sono bianche lucide e non lo sopporto!).
I lavori di pittura di muri e infissi inizieranno verso fine settembre.
After many many paint samples (so much money wasted!), many many colour tests on the walls, and many many days spent looking at inspirational pics on the pc and on my scrapbook albums, we decided to go neutral. All the colours will be very natural, cream, off white, light tan etc.
I will give the colour to the room via furniture and accessories... and hopefully the result will be ok!
The skirting board, doors and woodwork will be white, as it already is, but it will be repainted with a satinwood effect (currently is gloss, and I hate it!)
The decoration will start around the end of september.

Ecco l'argomento piú scottante di questa "ristrutturazione!!!
Come giá anticipato é stato deciso di far partire i lavori per questa benedetta piccola estensione della cucina. Lavori costosi e che chiaramente abbiamo deciso di affrontare dopo mille pensamenti e ripensamenti. (io nn ne sono ancora convinta, per via della perdita di parte del giá piccolo giardino, ma bisognava pur decidere!!!)
Qui sopra, nei disegni dell'architetto (su design e indicazioni mie) potete capire quello che succederá.
A sinistra la situazione attuale con la piccola cucinetta, in cui ci "dovrebbe" stare pure la lavatrice.. e il frigo "sarebbe" di quelli piccoli ad incasso, altezza 90 cm! (rido per non piangere)
A destra come sará dopo i lavori. L'ampliamento totale di 2.5 metri sará distribuito in parte sulla cucina (in rosa) e in parte per la creazione di una piccola lavanderia (in marroncino) dove inserire lavatrice e asciugatrice, piú un piccolo lavabo e qualche pensile.
L'idea iniziale era di ingrandire il bagnetto e creare un bagnetto/lavanderia ma il muro tra bagnetto e cucina é un muro portante e per di piú da' sostegno alle scale, per cui questa opzione, anche se ci ruba piú spazio in giardino, é economicamente e strutturalmente migliore.
I lavori partiranno tra pochi giorni, e la paura e l'emozione sono tante!
That is the hottest and more complicated chapter of the house refurbishment..
Eventually we decided to build a small extension, as you can see from the architect drawings above (made after my design and specifications). So we will extend by 2.5 metres towards the garden, gaining roughly a metre for the kitchen and the rest for a small utility room, where I will put my washing machine and the dryer, plus a small sink and some wall cabinets for storage. I am still not sure about this decision, especially because we will obviously loose part of the garden (that's already quite tiny).
Anyway, the works will start in a few days, and I am very nervous and excited!

Nel frattempo chiaramente dobbiamo decidere (e anche abbastanza velocemente) e acquistare la nuova cucina, che tra 3-4 settimane dovrá essere pronta per essere installata.
Siamo indecisi tra alcune compagnie/catene (tutte inglesi: Howdens, Magnet, Wickes) e i modelli sono per lo piú quelli che vedete qui sopra.
Il colore sará bianco, la porta a pannelo (stile shaker), il piano di lavoro in legno rovere, le maniglie saranno pomoli in rovere, cappa ed elettrodomestici molto probabilmente antracite o nere (niente acciaio, nn mi piace) e il lavandino in composite nero o panna (ma non ho ancora escluso la ceramica), di sicuro non in acciaio. Il frigo, se si deciderá per freestanding (siamo ancora indecisi se freestanding o integrato, vedi indecisioni di layout piú sotto) sará in stile retro color crema (smeg o simili, non so se potremo permetterci lo smeg).
Naturalmente queste super iper belle cucine qui sopra non avranno niente a che vedere con la mia, che sará mignon e molto basica! ma di certo nei cataloghi non mostrano cucine di 3x4 metri :)
In the meantime we have to decide about the kitchen, and quite in a hurry as well, because in 3-4 weeks it will probably be time to fit it. We are choosing between some british chains like Magnt, Howdens, Wickes..
The only things for sure are that it will be white, with shaker style paneled doors, with oak wooden top and oak knobs. The appliances will be black or anthracite, not stainless steel because I don't fancy it.
We will need to decide whether to go for a built in fridge freezer or a freestanding one (it will be decided also depending on the final layout), in this last case, it will be a retro cream model, Smeg or some cheaper similar brands.
Obviously those huge and magnificent kitchens don't really have a lot in common with mine, simple, tiny and very basic.. but you know, in the catalogue they rarely show 4x3mt kitchens ;)

E qui sopra ecco i dubbi sul layout e le varie opzioni tra le mille che ho disegnato.
Disposizione a U
La forma si presterebbe ad una disposizione ad U, come nel layout di sinistra. In quel caso potremo concederci il frigo freestanding che tanto amo, perché ci sarebbe lo spazio perfetto per poter aprire la portella (va lasciato uno spazio di clearance di circa 20 cm a lato porta per l'apertura, specie nei frighi retro bombati)
Con questa disposizione otterremo anche un angolo in piú e ovviamente piú spazio di piano lavoro.
La paura é che venga sacrificato troppo spazio per tavolo, sedie, eventuale carrello/mobiletto tv ecc.
Disposizione ad L
L'alternativa é la disposizione ad L, come nel layout di destra. In questo caso sarebbe meglio avere un frigo integrato, per non sprecare spazio utile e ovviamente si perderebbe un pó di simmetria sia nei pensili che nelle unitá base. Ma ne guadagneremmo in spazio rimanente nella cucina.
Ovviamente non si puó avere tutto :)
Al di la' dei dubbi sul layout, ho anche dubbi sui pensili. Non ho mai avuto vetrinette e mi hanno sempre spaventato per via del fatto che temo si veda il casino dentro. Peró credo arredino parecchio, specie in una cucina in stile country inglese. Per cui mi piacerebbe tenere due vetrinette, a lato cappa, rigorosamente con barre georgiane (ma dipenderá dal modello che sceglieremo ahime') al cui interno mettere le cose piú "estetiche", ovvero tazze, bicchieri, terrine in porcellana, contenitori della pasta, della farina, dello zucchero ecc. e se proprio nn mi piacerá avere le cose in vista, potró sempre mettere una tendina a quadretti per coprire!
mah..! vediamo che si deciderá!
As you can see above we are also deciding about the final kitchen layout. I have been drawing so many different options and designs.. I really got crazy! Finally these are two of the most probable winners.
U shaped
You can see it in the pictures on the left. It's obvioulsy the best option in term of cabinet space and worktop room, but we'll need to sacrifice a bit of space for table+chairs, and other trolleys/tv stands, that may be needed around. With this option, we will probably go for the freestanding fridge option.
L shaped
The opposite of course, so less space for kitchen units but more space all around. In this option we will probably have a built in fridge freezer, because the freestanding one takes too much space (especially for the door clearance area needed).
I am also concerned about some style choices. I have never experienced kitchen with glass cabinets, but I am quite fond of them, especially in a english country styled kitchen, but the problem is that I am quite scared but the clutter inside to be showed! Maybe I could have just a couple where I could put the "nicer" kitchen stuff, like cups and glasses, pasta jars etc.

Le tinte del salotto saranno le stesse di quello attuale, ovvero, come da moodboard qui sopra, il rovere del pavimento e di alcuni mobili, il bianco, il rosa antico, il rosso e soprattutto il verde salvia.
Al divano Ektorp 3 posti che giá abbiamo ne aggiungeremo probabilmente un altro due posti, in modo da poter far sedere gli amici quando ci vengono a trovare ;)
Sará probabilmente bianco, anche se temo le necessarie frequenti pulizie, vedremo...
Abbiamo giá rimosso il caminetto a gas integrato che era presente. E' stata una scelta dovuta per lo piú al layout che desideriamo per il salotto, che essendo molto piccolo ha richiesto mille studi e ore ed ore, o meglio giornate e giornate passate sui planner. Abbiamo deciso di mettere cmq un caminetto elettrico freestanding, a forma di stufa, forma che preferisco rispetto al classico caminetto inglese! Ne fanno di molto realistici e sono davvero adorabili!
Sogno di vivere in un cottage, sogno di avere una vera stufa a legna.. ma non si puó.. e allora facciamo "finta"!!!
The lounge colour scheme will be the same I have now. So oak, white, red, dusty pink and sage green.
We already have the 3seat ektorp flower sofa, and we will probably add a white ektorp 2 seat sofa, to have some space for friends, when they visit us.
We already removed the built in gas fireplace that was in the room, to make space for the new layout we are studying and designing. I love fireplaces, though, so we will buy a freestanding eletric stove ( I actually prefer stoves to standard fireplaces) that will give a cozy rustic style!

E per finire ecco qui sopra i progetti per la camera matrimoniale.
Il pavimento sará del colore che vedete a inizio post. I muri saranno un tan naturale che si sposa perfettamente con il pavimento! In pratica un colore quasi identico alla foto ispirativa che vedete qui sopra (che adoro!!!). Il nostro letto dovró dipingerlo di bianco/avorio, perché il colore legno che ha al momento cozza terribilmente con il colore del laminato :(
i comodini... meditavo un azzurro french grey... vedremo..
Ai piedi del letto vorrei una cassettiera bassa bassa e larga, come una specie di cassapanca, ma con i cassetti per biancheria ecc. Quella bellissima che ho ora proprio non ci sta in camera :(
Probabilmente ce la faremo fare di pino su misura, e la ripingeró di grigio/azzurro o bianco.
Per le tende, é ancora presto.. ho troppi pensieri per la testa.. ma prima o poi penseró anche a quelle e non mancheró di raccontarvi le mie idee!
And finally the master bedroom. The flooring will be the old oak style laminate shown at the beginning of the post. It should match perfectly the light tan paint we chose for the walls (very similar to the walls on the pic above, which I totally love)
I'll need to paint the bed frame off white/ivory, because the current pine colour doesn't really go well with the new flooring. The bedside tables will probably be painted with french grey blue colour. I am also thinking of having a bespoke chest of drawers to put at the end of the bed, because there is no other room for it, and I'll probably paint it with french grey blue, again.
I haven't thought about curtains and other accessories yet, but as soon as I'll start designing and deciding something I will surely share my ideas with you!

E con questo per oggi é tutto.. ho scritto un romanzo, ma rimandavo da troppo tempo un bel post sui progetti di casa.. e prima di attuarli mi pareva carino condividerli!!! ..spero di nn avervi annoiato troppo, ma so che la' fuori, tra le mie lettrici, ci sono parecchie pazze scatenate come me che adorano progetti di interior design e home makeover.. :)
