"Il mondo in una stanza" ed altre storie.... (house to home update)

Pensavate di avermi persa eh!!! pensavate fossi rimasta soffocata sotto le decine e decine di scatoloni che ora sono stipati tra il nostro garage e il garage di amici (il nostro non bastava e ho detto tutto o_O), pensavate fossi rimasta schiacciata sotto il peso della lavatrice o dell'asciugatrice o della credenza o delle librerie o di tutti gli altri pesantissimi mobili che ci siamo spostati con le nostre braccine sante (ormai siamo esperti nell'arte del trasloco fai da te, con van a noleggio, arte di cui farei molto volentieri a meno), pensavate fossi in prigione dopo aver strangolato gli operai dell'estensione con cui invece per forze maggiori ora mi ritrovo a convivere e chiaccherare e offrire caffé (lunghi e disgustosi alla british way).... e invece no!!! sono ancora qui!

Premessa importantissima per le mie lettrici occasionali o fedeli:

e lo saró probabilmente fino a fine settimana prossima.. o forse di piú :( Stendiamo un velo pietoso sopra questo ennesimo contrattempo (giusto per chi pensa che in Uk tutto funzioni... tze')

Chiaramente ora sto usando una linea a scrocco di amici, ma é molto saltuario. Per cui ho un arretrato di mail da spavento, le ho lette tutte e risposto a qualcuna (le piú vecchie) e mi dispiace ma per il momento nn mi é possibile rispondere fino a che non mi ridanno la linea :(

So che molte aspettano foticine della casa e oggi vi mostreró qualcosa. Nn é esattamente quello che avrei voluto mostrarvi (non avrei mai pensato di dovermi trasferire in una casa senza cucina) ma per farvi fare una risata ecco a voi...

So, you thought you lost me among boxes but here I am again! This post will be veeeery long to compensate the lack of posting before (and maybe) after.

First of all an important message to my occasional or loyal readers:

I DON'T HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION YET!!!

So if you wrote me in the latest weeks and I haven't answered yet, you know why. Right now I am taking advantage of a friend's broadband but this happens rarely. So hopefully I should be online again towards the end of next week, but it's not certain yet.

Anyway, today I am going to show you some pics from the new house, not exatctely the kind of pics I thought I would share (I never thought I would move in a house without the kitchen!) but.. ok it's fun anyway!

So let me introduce you "our world in a room"

aka how to fit the lounge, the dining room, the tv corner and an improvised kitchen in 4mx4m.. everything with a delightful view over the concrete mixer ;)

Ma siccome questa storia dell'estensione si prolunga sempre piú (la previsione é sempre di due settimane, peccato che queste due settimane continuino a spostarsi in avanti... ) e siccome giá vivere come in un campeggio nn é proprio il massimo della vita, almeno ho cercato di rendere questa stanza il piú carina e confortevole possibile. Ci sono voluti un pó di ingegno femminile, un pó di fatica, un pó di pazienza, ma alla fine ne sono soddisfatta. E' accogliente, funzionale, colorata, calda e si riesce persino a camminare intorno al tavolo, che nn é un dettaglio da poco (specie se vedevate come era all'inizio)

Eh si...

Quando si dice due cuori e una capanna ;)

e se poi la capanna ha anche lo smeg, nn posso proprio chiedere di piú!!!

{cmq tra le righe, o meglio tra i duecento mobili che ci sono dentro, se riuscite, potete anche vedere finalmente in loco, il pavimento che abbiamo scelto per il piano terra, il famoso laminaro color rovere, e il muro dipinto in un neutrissimo "chalk stone" dulux}

Because this extension seems to be taking so long to be finished and because living in a building site with a camping-style kitchen is not so faboulos, I, at least tried to make this room as cosy and pretty and comfortable and functional as possible. Mixing female cleverness, some work and a bit of patience I think I made it. You can even walk around the table!

<There is an italian saying that tells "Two hearts and a shed" ... well that is exactely the situation here. And if the shed also has a smeg in it... what more can I ask for?!

{btw among the overwhelming furniture you can maybe see the oak effect laminate flooring I talked to you about, that we chose for the downstairs, and the wall painted in a lovely "chalk stone" by dulux}

E' piccola ma funzionale, le librerie si sono trasformate in una dispensa (dentro le ante ci sono panificati, barattolame, condimenti ecc.), la cassettiera del salotto é diventata un contenitore per pentole, padelle e terrine.

E per cucinare c'é l'essenziale:

un microonde, un paio di piastre elettriche e il fornetto (prossima foto, a fianco del divano). Peccato dover lavare i piatti in bagno di sopra. Questo nn é cosí divertente..

Ma posso persino cucinare guardando la tv, un lusso a cui nn ero abituata ;) vedete, bisogna trovare il lato positivo delle cose ^_^

This improvised kitchen is small but functional. The bookshelves became a pantry (and inside you'll find biscuits, cans, various food), the chest of drawers became a cabinet for pots and pans.

And ther is the essentials to cook:

a microwave oven, a couple of electric rings and a small oven (in the next picture, close to the sofa). That's a shame I need to wash the dishes in the bathroom upstairs, that is not very fun. But I can even watch tv while cooking, a luxury I wasn't used to ;) see, you have to find the positive ;)

L'angolo relax .. fondamentale! Divanozzo, poggiapiedi e copertina fatta dalle mie dolci amiche (che scalda il corpo e il cuore, ogni sera).

E il vero protagonista, colui che illumina la stanza é proprio la dietro. Nicola ormai é geloso dello smeg... dice che sto diventando un pó ossessiva... tipo

"amore! ti sei lavato le mani prima di toccare lo smeg?!?!?!"o_O

..no questo non l'ho mai detto giuro, é una SUA invenzione (della mia dolce metá).. mi prende in giro e mi imita! ma mi ha fatto troppo ridere perché a essere sinceri nn é poi cosí distante dalla realtá :)))

And the real protagonist of the room is over there. Nicola is jealous of the smeg fridge.. he says that I am getting a bit obsessive about it .. like:

"darling! did you wash your hands before touching the smeg?!?!?!" o_O

..no that is not real, I swear I never said that, he made that up (making fun of me) but I found it so funny, also because it's not so far from the truth ;)

Gli indispensabili per un piatto di pasta o un risotto ci sono tutti. L'organizzazione in spazi piccoli, claustofobrici, é fondamentale!

The must have essentials for a pasta dish or a risotto are all there. Organisation in small rooms is necessary.

Sará anche una casetta british, ma dentro battono cuori ( e stomaci) assolutamente ITALIANI e qui sotto lo potete vedere anche voi ;)

Ed ora passiamo agli update sull'estensione, ovvero la causa della nostra attuale vita da campeggio!

Da fuori é una festa.. sembra tutto finito!!! I muri sono completi, il tetto anche, la porta e la finestra sono state spostate dal muro esistente a quello nuovo. (mancano solo grondaie e bits and pieces)

L'aspetto ci piace. Peccato tolga tanto giardino ma si sapeva..

And now the updates about the extension that is the cause of our current camping lifestyle.

From the outside evertyhing seems finished and perfect..

Ma dentro la situazione é invece questa. Bello vivere con una stanza in costruzione in casa vero? vi lascio immaginare lo sporco, la polvere, lo schifo che ci circonda. Ma pazienza..

La situazione é quella che vedete qui sotto riassunta nella mia lista.

La prossima settimana dovrebbero inserire la finestra nella lavanderia, rivestire i muri e il soffitto e poi mettere la malta che asciugherá durante il weekend. Spero anche che venerdí riescano a mettere il pavimento in laminato ma nn ne sono sicura. Quando i muri saranno rivestiti dovrá tornare l'elettricista a fare il "second fix" ovvero finire le prese e interruttori vari che ha preparato come impianto.

Se tutto va come da piani (e non va MAI come da piani) a inizio settimana quell'altra dovrebbero essere pronti per dipingere i muri e installare la cucina/lavanderia. Dopodiché come ultima cosa ci sará da piastrellare le zone sopra il piano di lavoro sia in cucina che in lavanderia.

Dico solo: vedremo......... (a me a questo punto basta che finiscano per natale.. ho smesso di avere pretese)

But on the inside you will find that there is still so much to do. They obviously finished the external walls, the roof, they knocked down the existing wall and replaced the window and door in the new one and they concreted the floor. They also completed the eletrics and plumbings this week. Next week it will be time for putting the plasterboard and skimming. Hopefully by the end of next week the rooms would be ready for painting and flooring. If everything goes as planned (and it never goes) we could have our kitchen installed in two weeks time.

E siccome non ve ne avevo mai parlato vi accenno anche come sará la lavanderia, o meglio la MICRO lavanderia. I legni che vedete piazzati in mezzo saranno lo scheletro per i muri di "plasterboard".

A fondo stanzina, poggiati sul muro esterno (dove come vedete ci sará una finestrella) la lavatrice e l'asciugatrice, con sopra un bel piano di lavoro continuo. A sinistra, nell'angolino, un piccolo mobiletto con sopra un piccolo lavabo di quelli quadrati da poggiare sopra il piano. Sopra 2-3 pensili per riporre detersivi e cosine varie.

Insomma piccola (piú grande di cosí non si riusciva a fare) ma spero, funzionale!

And because I never talked to you about the utility area, here it's a sketch of how it will look like. They still have to cut the window (on monday hopefully) and then the position is as in the pic: washing machine and dryer on the external wall, covered by a wortop (oak or oak laminate). On the left corner a small cabinet with a countertop basin and over these some wall cabinets to store cleaning products.

It's very very small (we couldn' make it bigger) but I hope it will be functional enough.

E con questo (per le 2-3 persone che saranno riuscite ad arrivare fino a qui) é tutto! Vi mando un bacione e spero di poter scrivere (e leggervi) al piú presto. Ho tante cose da raccontarvi su questa casetta che nonostante fossi piena di dubbi ora mi ha fatto davvero innamorare. Ho una lista di cose da fare, pensare, organizzare, comprare, decorare, creare che ormai non ha piú una fine e non so nemmeno da dove iniziare. Ma so che sará un'avventura bellissima!

If you arrived until here (maybe a couple of people managed) than you so much and I hope I will be able to blog again (and read blogs, and answers comments and mails) as soon as they give the broadband connection. I have so much to tell you about this house, I was full of doubts but now I am completely in love with it. I have so many things to do, think, organise, buy, decorate, make that I don't even know where to start from. But I know it will be a great experience!

Beauty is .... a sweet angel for a little girl

E un'altro angelo.. Io non ne ho mai abbastanza di angeli, spero che portino amore, fortuna e protezione in tutte le case che li ospiteranno!

Questo angelo lo avevo creato tempo fa per la piccola Camilla (bimba di un'amica) e questa volta mi é stato richiesto, ma in versione bionda, per Emma che arriverá a breve!

Incredibile che questi siano anche tra i miei due nomi preferiti per bimbe :) Strana coincidenza!

Chissá se un giorno non troppo lontano potró fare anche io il mio angelo tilda per la cameretta di una mia Emma.. chissá...

Per il momento mi accontento di crearli per piccole principesse (altrui) in arrivo!

And another angel.. I am never tired of angels, I hope they will bring happiness, love and good things to the house that will adopt them!

This angel is the same one I had created some time ago for little girl Camilla (friend's daughter), and this time it has been ordered to me with blonde hair, for Emma, who will arrive very soon!

It's amazing that both Emma and Camilla are among my favourite little girls names, a strange coincidence!

I really hope one day (not too far away though) I will have the opportunity to make a tilda angel for my own little Emma.. for now I am happy enough to make these super sweet dolls for other little princesses!

Beauty is ... a Tilda garden angel

Un'altra meraviglia per i miei (spero anche vostri) occhi! Questi son i miei colori preferiti, il rosa antico e il verde salvia, e questa Garden Angel di Tilda, rappresenta alla perfezione queste tonalitá e il fatto che assieme sono perfette!

Il particolare che adoro di piú é la rosellina di feltro tra i capelli, starei ore a osservarla! Sono malata?! :)

Another beauty for my (and yours as well, I hope) eyes! These are my favourite colours, dusty pink and sage green, and in this Tilda Garden Angel they blend perfectly.

The detail I love most is the small wool felt rose on the hair, I could spend hours looking at her! Am I insane?! :)

Beauty is ..... a lavender and white Tilda doll

Passano gli anni, sono ormai 5 anni (5!!!!) dalla prima volta che i miei occhi hanno posato lo sguardo su una bambola Tilda. E' stata la molla che ha fatto partire la mia voglia di cucire, era il MIO stile, il MIO gusto, tutto cio' che avrei voluto avere nella MIA casa.

Sono passati tanti anni, a volte sento dire "che noia queste bambole tilda!", sento tante opinioni in merito, alcune positive altre negative, che magari mi inducono a pensare che forse si, sono ormai datate. Poi ne faccio una, e mi perdo nella loro bellezza. Le guardo, le tocco, ne resto incantata, letteralmente incantata.

E cosí dopo 5 anni, sono ancora qui a mostrarvi bambole tilda, di cui, francamente non sembro stancarmi. Come puó la bellezza stancare?

Per me questa é bellezza, perfezione e armonia delle forme e dei colori. Semplicitá, delicatezza!

Ode a Tone Finnanger che mi ha regalato la voglia di cucire e di imparare e che ancora adesso mi fa innamorare di tutte le sue creature di pezza e lana!

It's been 5 years (5!!!) from the first time my eyes fell on a tilda book and on a tilda doll, and that was the starting point of my crafting life because what I found on those books was MY style, MY taste and everything I want to have in MY house!

It's been 5 years and I often hear opinions on tilda dolls, some are good some are not, some says "these tilda dolls are boring after so many years!" and it made me think that maybe they really are, but then I make one, I finish all the details and then I look at ther, and I fall in love. Every single time. I touch her, watch her and I simply aodre her.

So after 5 years I am still here showing tilda dolls, and I am not tired of them. How can such a beauty thing make me tired?

To me this is pure beauty, perfection and harmony of colours and shapes. Simplicity, sweetness! A big thank to Tone Finnanger who made me learn to sew and whose creatures always make me fall in love with!

Sto inscatolado giá da giorni, ma oggi inizio a sbaraccare anche la craft room. Il trasloco si avvicina inquietante. Dovrei esserne FELICE perché é il trasloco nella NOSTRA casetta, curata in ogni dettaglio e che stiamo coccolando come fosse una figlia, ma purtroppo per i motivi che le mie lettrici giá sanno, la felicitá é completamente offuscata dalla rabbia per aver trovato i peggiori muratori esistenti al mondo. Che ci promettono senza ritegno in continuazione cose che regolarmente non vengono NEMMENO lontanamente effettuate. Siamo delusi, stanchi, arrabbiati, preoccupati.. nn é lo spirito con cui si vorrebbe affrontare un trasloco in una casetta nuova che dovrebbe essere il nostro nido. Pazienza. C'é molto ma molto di peggio nella vita e passerá anche questa. Per il momento ci trasferiremo in una casa senza cucina e senza lavatrice. Con i mobili della cucina e gli elettrodomestici stipati in tutte le stanze .. tutto questo fino a data da definirsi dato che é inutile ascoltare le false promesse di questi muratori senza coscienza.

Non avró molto accesso (forse nessuno) a internet nei prossimi gg, almeno per una settimana abbondante o forse di piú, per cui ho deciso di programmare qualche post con le ultime creazioni commissionate, tutte dedicate alla bellezza! ..e a tone finnanger..! (per cui le "non estimatrici" sono avvisate ;)!)

The relocation moment is finally here. I have been making boxes during the last days and today I'll dismantle the craft room. I should be really happy about this relocation because we are moving in OUR new house, that we are loving and decorating and refurbishing in every single detail, but unfortunately the happiness is completely overwhelmed by sadness and anger, because of the horrible builders we found, who just promise and promise and promise without decency and every time they don't even keep a single one of the promises. We are already double the time scheduled and the kitchen extension is far from completed. So we will move into a house without kitchen and washing machine for how long... I don't know. But hey, there are much worse things in life, so we'll just be strong and patient. But that is not so easy.

Anyway, because I won't be able to access to the pc for a while, I'll leave you with some programmed posts about the latest "beauties" I made on order!

Hens Party

Una hens party! ..insomma una festa di gallinotte rosse che chiaccherano di gossip gallineschi sulla panca in giardino..

3 gallinotte rosse che (credo) saranno regali di Natale, commissionatemi da una cara amica e cliente. 3 gallinotte che saranno, a mio parere, difficili da separare.. ma quanto sono carine tutte assieme con i vestitini coordinati cosí country e dolci?!

Il modello é naturalmente Tilda (da Crafting Springtima Gifts), inconfondibile e sempre bellissimo!

A hen party (not the kind of hen party typical of the bride to be!) with 3 red hens that chat about hen-stuff on the bench in the garden..

3 sweet hens that (I think) will be Christmas gifts that a dear friend/client of mine ordered me to make. I think these 3 hens will be hard to separate from each other because they are so lovely together with the matching country red dresses!

The design is from Tilda (of course) from the "Crafting Springtime Gifts" book, and is always beautiful!

Today I am in a hurry, I have thousands of things to do before the relocation in the new house (that will be in 1 week) and I have no idea where I will put all our stuff, considering that the house is not finished yet (we will be without kitchen and laundry room for a while) and with pieces of kitchen and appliances everywhere around the house! help! So if I am not answering your comments or visiting your blogs... well you know why! I am "pretty" sure this period will be over soon, but I need to be very patient..

Oggi sono di corsa, ho tante-troppe cose da fare prima del trasloco (che avverrá fine settimana prossima) e non so nemmeno come faró a fare tutto O_O e dove metteremo tutta la nostra roba in una casa che é ancora incompleta (saremo senza cucina e senza lavanderia fino a data da definirsi... non ci voglio nemmeno pensare) e con pezzi di cucina ed elettrodomestici ovunque! Vi lascio immaginare in che stato sono (e saró) in questo periodo.. help!

Vi ringrazio DI CUORE per i bellissimi messaggini/commenti che mi lasciate sempre, siete davvero dei tesori.. generalmente mi prendo delle serate/mattinate per me per visitare i blog altrui (non solo i miei preferiti, ma anche tutti i tantissimi nuovi di brave creative che nascono in continuazione e a cui ormai fatico a stare dietro ahimé..) ma in queste settimane é pressoché impossibile, tra il lavoro intenso prenatalizio, la casa da finire con i suoi mille problemi che spuntano come funghi ogni giorno, come la caldaia da cambiare last minute, giusto per dirne una di "economica"... :-((( e il trasloco in agguato..

quindi se non vi rispondo o se non riesco a visitarvi, sappiate che non lo faccio perché nn sono interessata, ma semplicemente purtroppo perché nn ho il tempo materiale per nulla... ma passerá anche questa, ne sono "quasi" sicura...

..ai prossimi update (se riusciró) tra produzione in craft room e casa nuova!

Bibury - like a watercolour painting!

A dispetto del tempo orribile che sento e vedo c'é in Italia e che sta mettendo in ginocchio tante aree, tra cui il mio Veneto e la mia Padova, qui in UK devo dire che quest'anno non possiamo proprio lamentarci. La primavera é stata magnifica, l'estate (per quanto si possa chiamare estate quella che abbiamo qui) nn é stata affatto male, e ora anche l'autunno, a parte qualche giornata deprimente di grigio e pioggerellina/ona, ci sta regalando tante giornate di sole e colori unici. Sabato scorso una bella passeggiata a Bibury.. l'avevo giá mostrata anni fa nel blog (qui, ritratta assieme ad altri villaggi della zona), ma come accade spesso con i villaggi e i paesaggi naturali, lo spettacolo cambia totalmente con le stagioni, e l'autunno ci ha regalato dei panorami e degli scorci meravigliosi!

Despite the horrible weather that is affecting Italy at the moment (especially my home area Veneto and my home town Padova) I have to admit that here in the UK this year we can't really complain about the weather. Spring was beautiful, summer (if you can call summer the season that you find here!) was not too bad and autumn, so far, is really bringing a lot of sunny and colourful days and just a few grey and rainy days. So saturday, on a lovely sunny day, we visited (again) Bibury and surroundings. I already showed this village in the blog (here together with other cotswolds towns) some years ago, but with the fall colours everything looks different and gorgeous!

Welcome to Bibury!

La chiesa e i tipici muretti a secco fatti con pietra dei Cotswolds. Un marchio inconfondibile, quel colore di questa tipica pietra calcarea che contraddistingue le case e i muri di tutta questa area. Come giá detto, trovo che sia bellissima e una superficie perfetta per i colori pastello degli infissi (spesso azzurri, verde salvia o bianchi) e per i colori piú accesi dei fiori in primavera e del fogliame e delle bacche in autunno.

The church and the typical dry stone walls made with the famous Cotswolds stone. That is a kind of limestone that marks all the buildings and walls of the area. As already said, I think that this stone is beautiful and it creates the perfect background for pastel colours of the doors and windows (usually pale blue, pale green or white) or for the strong fall and spring colours.

Dei cottage mozzafiato in cui tutto, fino al singolo angolo, é curato nei minimi dettagli. Sarei curiosa di vedere l'interno... Per esperienza so che non sempre a ció che viene rappresentato da fuori corrispondono interni da favola... ma sono sicura che in qualcuno di questi cottage si nasconde anche qualche stupenda cucina farmhouse con un aga e un enorme camino in salotto di fronte al divano!

Some amazing cottages where every little corner of the garden is perfectly kept. I'd really like to see the inside... I know from experience that most of the times there is not a direct relation from what you see in these super pretty gardens and the style that you will find indoor.. but I am sure that some of these cottages hide gorgeous interiors, beautiful farmhouse kitchens with an aga and lovely open fires in the lounge!

Un tocco di Halloween, appena passato!

Non c'é niente da dire, i protagonisti sono loro.. i colori caldi e tipici di questo periodo!

And the real protagonists are of course the fall colours!

Nei frutti, nelle foglie, ma anche e soprattutto nelle bacche. Girando per boschi, sentieri e villaggi, mi accorgo sempre piú del quantitativo incredibile di diverse bacche che si possono incontrare! Ce ne sono di ogni tipo e di ogni colore. Vivere in mezzo alla natura é meraviglioso... si scoprono e apprezzano cose che nel loro piccolo ti stupiscono e ti affascinano ogni giorno.

You will find them in the fruits, in the leaves, but most of all in the berries. Walking around woods, paths and villages, I lately realize how many different kinds of berries I can meet! So many different shapes, sizes and colours. I am so happy about living in the middle of nature... every single day I am able to find all the small things that amaze and fascinate me.

Questa é la viuzza piú famosa di Bibury, Arlington Row, con antichi cottage protetti dagli enti di salvaguardia ambientale. E' tra gli scorci piú fotografati dei Cotswolds!

This is the most famous lane in Bibury, Arlington Row. It features very old cottages protected by the National Trust. It is one of the most popular corner of the Cotswolds!

E l'Hotel che domina questo minuscolo paesino. Mi sono innamorata delle finestre bianco panna con quella decorazione cosí romantica e che sembra nata per combinarsi in un matrimonio perfetto con l'edera rossa che la circonda.

Un ultimo scorcio che mi ha fatto innamorare. Il rosso delle bacche, l'azzurro del cielo in una stupenda giornata, il verde della natura e il grigio della pietra di Cotswolds. Cosa si puó chiedere di piú per un ritratto da sogno?

A last corner that made me fall in love. The red of the berries, the light blue of the sky, the green of the nature and the grey of the Cotswolds stone. What can you ask more for a dream portrait?

Il cancelletto era semichiuso... chissá se le oche, i cigni, le papere e i vari pennuti sapevano che LORO si che potevano entrare (ma solo loro!)

Questa si commenta da sola! Era nel bellissimo giardino fiorito (e campo santo) della chiesa! Eddai cani, ve lo si chiede per favore insomma :)))
