What I have been up to (part 2)

Anche oggi, come promesso, vi mostro cos'ho combinato in craft room negli ultimi tempi. Oggi un quartetto di cuori da appendere a maniglie, pomoli, muri o dove si preferisce. O da usare come bomboniera, chiudi pacco, profuma cassetti/armadi ecc.ecc.

Uno per ogni colore pastello (azzurro, verde salvia, beige, rosa antico) e ognuno con un animaletto diverso!

Il coniglietto (Tilda) e l'orsetto (mio design) giá visti e sperimentati e le new entry ovvero il micino (mio design) e il cagnolino (ispirato allo splendido vestitino per bimba fatto dalla mia amica Marty molto tempo fa).

Ok, non saranno la novitá dell'anno, so che li avete giá visti e rivisti nel mio blog, ma son felice di aver sperimentato nuovi animaletti e secondo me tutti assieme son davvero adorabili e volevo condividerli con voi!!!

Today, as promised, I'll keep on showing you what I have been creating (for custom orders) recently in the craft room. Today the protagonists are 4 padded hearts, each one with a different pastel colour (light blue, sage green, beige and dusty pink) and each one with a different cute animal applique!

The usual bunny (Tilda design) and bear (my design) and the new entries: the cat (my design) and the dog (inspired by a gorgeous baby dress my friend Marty made some time ago).

Ok, you have seen them many times in my blog, but I am happy to have been challenged to make new applique characters and I think that they look so adorable all together, so I wanted to share this with you!

What I have been up to (part 1)

Cosa ho combinato in queste settimane di silenzio dalla craft room? niente di nuovo a dire la veritá! Ho tante tante (troppe) idee su cosine nuove da fare per me, per la casa e per lo shop, ma prima devo e voglio giustamente accontentare le mie fedeli e dolcissime amiche/clienti che aspettano da mesi (alcune da prima del trasloco) per avere alcune mie creazioni (e che ringrazio TANTO per questo).

Per rompere il silenzio stampa craft e siccome qualcuno me lo ha chiesto, vi mostro cosa sto combinando! Non sono novitá ma sono sempre cose carine (a mio parere) per cui ben vengano foticine per il blog ;)

What have I been up to during these weeks of craft silence? Well nothing new really! I have many many (too many) ideas for new things to make for me, for my house and for the shop, but before that, I obviously and fairly have to complete the custom orders of clients/friends, some of which are patiently waiting since last autumn to have some creations of mine.

So in the meantime, to break the silence I will show some little peeks about what I have been crafting recently for my orders! They are not new things, but I guess they are always pretty and sweet things (in my opinion) ;)

Questo set, tutto verde mela, mi é stato commissionato da una "quasi mamma" per la cameretta del suo cucciolo. Penso che la cameretta verrá un incanto perché io e questa ragazza abbiamo molti gusti in comune ;)

Inanzitutto un'oca tilda con vestitino in lino e verde a righine, un connubio sempre vincente.

This set, all apple green, was custom ordered by a "mum (soon) to be" for her new baby room. I think the room will look stunning once is completed cos this girl has really excellent tastes!

First of all a Tilda goose, in ecru linen and striped cotton, always a safe bet.

Um micione (sempre Tilda) dal maglione soffice e dallo sguardo dolcissimo.

Then a Tilda cat with a fluffy sweater and a sweet look.

Due pupazzetti che verranno messi su due cornicette a creare dei quadretti tridimensionali, un'idea che mi stuzzica un sacco e non vedo l'ora di vedere il risultato!

L'ochetta é design Tilda, l'orsetto é mio design.

Two little softies that will be attached on a frame and will make two cute tridimensial hanging decorations, I am looking forwards to seeing the result!

The little duck is Tilda design, while the little bear is my design.

E per finire tre cuori, sia miei che di design Tilda (quello con il coniglietto) per i pomoli dell'armadio di questo bambino fortunatissimo!

And finally three green and white padded hearts, some Tilda design (the bunny one) some my design. They will be hung on the knobs of the wardrobe of this very lucky little boy!

E salotto fu! (ma ancora molto "in progress")

E' incredibile come le cose spesso stiano ferme per mesi e poi improvvisamente, tutte assieme si mobilitino. L'arrivo della primavera, il giardiniere che ci sta dando dentro con il nostro piccolo fazzoletto verde sul retro, i mobili su misura che arrivano, il sole e il cielo azzurro che mettono voglia di piantare sti chiodi e mettere due tre decorazioni sui muri e tutto pian piano prende forma.

Il nostro salotto fino a una settimana fa era un campo di battaglia, niente mobili e le decorazioni, i libri, i cd, i dvd, tutti ancora in garage, niente di niente appeso. Poi all'arrivo delle librerie che abbiamo fatto fare dallo stesso falegname della cassettiera in camera, finalmente le cose si sono smosse. Per magia la stanza ha preso forma.

It's amazing how things can stand still for ages and then suddenly all together they start to move. The spring is coming, the landscaper is working in our little back garden, the custom made furniture is arriving, the sun and blue sky that give me the willing to finally stick those nails and hang some decorations on the walls and slowly everything start to go in the right place.

Our living room was an empty building site until only a week ago, no furniture, no decorations and all the books, dvd, cd etc, still stored in the garage. Then the bookcases we custom ordered (from the same carpenters as the bedroom chest of drawers) finally arrived and things started to move. Suddenly and magically the room is taking shape.

In origine, dove adesso c'é la tv, c'era un grande (troppo grande) caminetto a gas, inserito nel muro, come in ogni casa inglese. Sarebbe stato anche bene in mezzo alle librerie, la tipica struttura dei cottage e delle case vittoriane, ma abbiamo deciso a malincuore di eliminarlo per lasciare posto al mobile tv. Questo perché altrimenti la tv sarebbe andata a finire nella parete libera a destra, dirimpetto alla porta a vetri, e vi lascio immaginare come si possa vedere bene la tv con il riflesso della luce! (saró anche fissata con l'interior design ma la comoditá a un certo punto deve pur vincere sull'estetica!)

Il mobile per la tv é il mio cruccio del momento. Mi pare troppo scuro e fuori tono rispetto al resto della stanza, ma dipingerlo in bianco e creare un total white non mi convince completamente.

E' anche troppo profondo rispetto alle reali necessitá. Al momento abbiamo quella tv, ma appena possibile ne prenderemo una piatta che occuperá un decimo della sua profonditá. Sono indecisa se pitturarlo (pitturare di bianco la parte sotto e magari scartavetrare il top e trattarlo con mordente in rovere come il tavolino da caffé?) o se cambiarlo proprio e farmene fare uno dagli stessi falegnami che han fatto le librerie, magari su misura con ante, scomparti e cassettini al posto giusto e secondo le nostre necessitá. Vi terró aggiornate.

Originally there was a big gas inset fireplace where we now put the tv cabinet. Except for the fact that it was too big, it would have probably been nice to have it in the middle of the bookcases, like most of the cottages and victorian houses. But we had to remove it to leave the space for the tv, because otherwise the tv would have gone in the wall in front of the patio doors, and you can easily imagine how horrible it is to watch the tv with the glare from outside. I am very keen on interiors but sometimes the comfort and practicalness must win over aesthetic.

The tv cabinet is my doubt of the moment. It seems to me too dark for the room, and it's also way too deep then what is needed (especially because we are going to buy a flat screen tv asap). I don't know if I should paint it (maybe white at the bottom and light oak on the top) or change it. Maybe we could have one custom made on our requested and needed size by the usual carpenter. I'll keep you posted!

Al divano a 3 posti che giá avevamo ne abbiamo aggiunto uno a due posti, identico, sempre lo straquotato Ektorp di Ikea. E' stato un acquisto davvero utile per tutte le volte che abbiamo amici a casa perché si sta comodamente seduti a chiaccherare e giocare alla wii.

Penso che presto compreremo delle fodere di ricambio, ne ho viste di beige chiaro che mi piacciono molto. Magari da usare d'inverno per cambiare un pó l'aspetto della stanza. Queste rose vintage mi piacciono ma amo anche i cambiamenti e le rotazioni di cose ed oggetti in casa!

We added a second 2 seats Ektorp sofa, to the 3 seats one we already had. It was a very good choice and decision because we use it very often when we have friends over, and it's good to chat and play with the wii all together. I think we will soon buy some spare covers, probably the light natural ones, so that I will be able to change the look of the room every now and again. I love the vintage roses that we have but changing is fun!

Questa sotto é la parete libera, in cui vorremmo mettere una piccola stufetta elettrica. So che la stanza si riempirebbe forse un pó troppo ma mi dispiace rinunciare al (seppur finto, come nella maggior parte delle case moderne qui) calore e all'atmosfera che regala un caminetto d'inverno. Ne fanno di bellissime e con fiamme molto molto realistiche. Oramai avere il caminetto vero ,a legna, anche qui in UK, dove é un "must" in tutte le case, sta diventando un'utopia. Solo i cottage possiedono gli autentici open fire o le stufe a legna. Nel resto delle case si va di caminetto elettrico o a gas.

(piccolo update: grazie a tutte come sempre per consigli e opinioni, apprezzatissimi!!! ma volevo chiarire una cosa: siccome molte mi hanno proposto le adorabili e utilissime stufe a pellet o a legna, molti miei amici le hanno e so che son convenienti e molto molto belle, so anche che il calore del fuoco vero non ha paragoni! ma volevo dirvi che purtroppo dove posizioneró la stufa non c'é canna fumaria, é un muro interno! e dopo tutti i lavori fatti (decorazione, muri, pavimenti) di sicuro non abbiamo nessuna intenzione di spendere soldi o di fare altri lavori per poter inserire una stufa vera.. ecco il motivo di quella elettrica, e poi alla fin fine per esperienza passata so che la accenderemo si e no una ventina di sere in inverno, non di piú, quindi il consumo non é un problema..)

This is the spare wall in which we want to put a small electric stove. I know that the room will probably feel cramped but we don't want to give up on the idea of having the warmth and lovely atmosphere that a fireplace can give on a cold winter day. Many companies make very nice electric stoves with flames that seem real. Nowadays it's difficult to find a real wood fireplace also in the british houses, even if here, the fireplace is a must. Most of the times, the real open fireplaces or the wood stoves are just in the cottages, while in the "normal" houses there are the electric or gas fireplaces.

Pensavamo a una piccola base rettangolare di ardesia, la stufetta e sopra una trave in legno dove appoggiare qualche foto. Il tutto abbastanza semplice e non troppo invasivo.

We were thinking to put a small slate base, then the stove and above a rustic oak beam to decorate with pictures. Everthing quite small and too invasive.

Sono piuttosto soddisfatta perché siamo riusciti a rendere la stanza esattamente come la avevamo progettata, mesi fa, con il planner di Sweet Home 3d. Ci é stato tutto e lo stile é piú o meno quello che volevamo.

Qui sotto vedete il progetto (uno dei tanti che avevo fatto perdendo ore ed ore, giorni e giorni, per decidere la disposizione migliore, la piú funzionale e razionale, spostando come pedine degli scacchi i divani, le librerie, la tv ecc.ecc. ) definitivo, a cui abbiamo cercato di attenerci.

I am quite happy with this room because we managed to make it exactly like we designed it many months ago, through the Sweet Home 3d planner.

Down here you can see the final project that I made, after so many different ones and so many different options (and so many hours and days spent studying, imagining, measuring, thinking, deciding) that we tried to stick to.

ps le foto sono state fatte davvero in velocitá, niente styling stavolta, niente accorgimenti particolari, i cuscini tutti stropicciati e mille scartoffie sul tavolino, le librerie ancora completamente in progress, perché non so come distribuiró libri/foto/decorazioni ma é solo un piccolo reportage per mostrarvi la situazione al momento!

ps the pictures are not that great. I didn't style the room, I didn't pay attention to the details, the cushions are all creased and there are horrible papers in the coffee table, the bookcases arrangement is also very temporary, because I'll need to decide how to organize books/pictures/decorations... but it was just a quick peek to show the situation at the moment!

Kitchen update - new table and decorations

Un pó di foticine dalla nostra cucina... per tenervi aggiornate sui piccoli cambiamenti che pian piano vengono fatti per rendere questa casetta, la NOSTRA casetta!

Dall'ultima volta che vi ho mostrato qualche scorcio la novitá é soprattutto la giá anticipata tavola rotonda. Decisamente piú comoda per la forma della stanza e un vero "bargain" (affare) dato che l'abbiamo trovata, giá dipinta come la desideravo (gamba bianca e top legno) a 30£ (circa 35 euro) in un favoloso negozio di antichitá e strafanti vari a Tetbury. Non ce la siamo fatti scappare, era perfetta per noi! Ed economica, che non guasta ;) L'altra tavola rettangolare naturalmente andrá nella saletta da pranzo (stanza pseudo inutile che non useremo praticamente mai o che forse diventerá lo studio di Nicola quando lavora da casa)

Today some pics from our kitchen ... to keep you updated with the little changes that slowly contribute to make this house OUR house!

Since last time I showed you some pics the main new is the, already anticipated, round table. Much more perfect to fit the space of our small kitchen and a great bargain at only 30£ in a antique shop in Tetbury. We didn't let it go, especially because it was exactely as I wanted it, wooden top and white leg, and because it was so cheap ;)

The other rectangular table of course will go in the dining room, a small room that we will be probably never use, or that maybe will become Nicola's studio when he works from home.

Come vedete qui sotto la parete di destra, l'unica libera e disponibile della stanza, si sta arricchendo di decorazioni varie. Vorrei dare quello stile coccolo/cottage chic senza appesantire troppo la stanza che é giá piccina. Vediamo se riusciró a fermarmi in tempo :)

Per ora mi piace molto, con qualche corona, l'orologio smaltato e qualche targhetta, ma sento che manca qualcosa. Ma non so cosa o_O

As you see down here, the wall on the right, the only spare wall, has been filled with some little decorations. I would like to give that sweet/cottage chic look without make it too heavy because the room is a bit small. I hope I will be able to stop in time :)

So far I am quite happy with it, I put some wreaths, the enamel clock, some wooden plaques, but I still feel it's missing something, I don't know what o_O

Anche il carrello é in continua evoluzione. Al momento contiene la frutta nei vari cestini e i deliziosi contenitori smaltati per il cibo (secco da una parte, bustine di umido dall'altra) della Penny che ho acquistato di recente.

Also the trolley is in continue evolution. At the moment it stores various trays and baskets with fruits and two super cute enamel boxes for Penny's food (one for the dry one and one for the wet one) that I recently bought.

Le altre novitá sono le lampade. Due gruppi da 3 di faretti presi all'ikea. Esteticamente mi piacciono molto, ma funzionalmente devo dire che non ne siamo molto contenti. Con il fatto che la lampadina é molto interna rispetto alla campana, fanno una luce molto direzionata, tipo faretto di teatro.. sembra di stare sul pacloscenico! Ormai ci siamo abituati ma non é certo il tipo di luce ed atmosfera che volevamo. Pazienza..

Tra le altre novitá anche la lavagna gigante a cuore comprata in fiera a Vicenza un anno fa (che non so se rimarrá li o verra spostata in entrata per far posto a una lavagna grande rettangolare e plurifunzione che un giorno o l'altro faró).

The other new entry is the lamp. Two groups of 3 spotlights bought at ikea. I quite like them aesthetically, but I have to admit that from the lighting point of view they were a bit of a disappointment. Because the light bulb is very deep compared to the surrounding enclosure/shade the light beam becomes directed only at one point, like a spotlight at thatre. So there is not a lot of diffusion of light. We are used to it so far but it's not the kind of atmosphere we had in mind...

Among the other news there is also the large heart shaped blackboard, bought at a craft exhibition in Italy one year ago. I really love it but I don't know if it will stay there or if it will move to the hallway to be replaced by a rectangular blackboard with other function handmade by me (when?). We will see..

E queste due piccole meraviglie.

La corona di rametti, presa ad un mercatino dell'usato mentre ero in vacanza in Svezia, ci ho aggiunto un cuoricino di stoffa ed é diventata un amore, oltre che un delizioso ricordo di quella vacanza meravigliosa. E l'uccellino in ardesia, che assolutamente adoro, preso quest'anno in fiera a Vicenza.

And these two little sweeties.

The wreath, bought at a flea market during our holiday in Sweden some years ago. I added the fabric heart in the centre and it became a lovely decoration and it's also a nice reminder of our beautiful swedish holiday.

And the slate bird, that I totally love, bought at a craft exhibition this year in Italy.

E con questo per oggi é tutto, a presto con altri aggiornamenti da questa casetta in continua evoluzione!

E' da un pó che non vi porto in giro con me per i bei posti che mi circondano. Un pó il freddo e grigio inverno, un pó le tante cose da fare, un pó il fatto che ormai abbiamo visto piú o meno tutto il circondario.. insomma ultimamente abbiamo fatto pochi giretti.

Sabato peró, un tiepido sole preprimaverile ci ha convinto a provare a visitare qualche nuovo villaggio/paesotto.

Eravamo partiti con l'idea di visitare Calne e Avebury (entrambi ancora a noi sconosciuti) e di fermarci, per strada, dato che la direzione era quella, a vedere per pura curiositá la casa di Robbie Williams, situata a Compton Basset, di cui tanto avevo letto, che é stato mio pseudo vicino di casa (a circa 20 km da casa nostra) per un pó di mesi senza che noi lo sapessimo. Ho solo poi scoperto (eh si, non sono piú cosí aggiornata, sono passati molti anni da quando avevo il suo poster a dimensione umana attaccato con le puntine sulle travi del soffitto della mia camera di ragazzina) che la casa nel frattempo la sta vendendo (o l'ha giá giá venduta) per trasferirsmi, giustamente, in california con la sua mogliettina.

Chiacchere a parte, questa premessa per dire che quello che doveva essere un piccolo stop/deviazione per vedere sta fantomatica casa, é diventato invece il nostro pomeriggio.

La casa é questa qui sotto, nn il mio stile decisamente, non me ne vogliano Mr and Mrs Williams ,anche se i 20 acri di bosco, parco, colline, piscine, campi da tennis che stanno intorno non é che proprio mi dispiacerebbero :)

It's been a long time since I haven't brought you in tour around with me. That is due to a cold and grey winter, to our busy lives and to the fact that we have, more or less, visited all the areas that surround us.

But saturday, thanks to a pre-spring sun and a mild day we decided to have a little trip around.

We started with the idea of visiting Calne and Avebury, and to stop for a very quick look , in Compton Basset at the (much talked about around here) house of Robbie Williams, which was my "neighbour" (approx. 20 km from where we live) without us knowing. Well to be honest I discovered, ONLY after visiting the house that he is in the process of selling it (I am not very updated anymore unfortunately, much time has gone by since the teenager period in which I had his life size poster hung on the ceiling of my bedroom) because he has permanently moved to California, with his newly wedded wife.

Well, all this chat to tell you that what should have been just a short stop/deviation, actually became much part of our afternoon! The house is the one down here, really not my style, even if I could live with the 20 acres of woodland, parks, tennis courts, swimming pools that come with the house :)

La vista che si gode dalla colline dove sono posizionate Compton Basset House e la deliziosa chiesetta dell'omonimo paesetto é davvero splendida. Dal giardino della chiesa si respira la solita aria che si respira in questi villaggi. Come se il tempo si fosse fermato... a duecento anni fa.

The view from the hills where are located Compton Basset House and the gorgeous little church adjacent to it, is wonderful. Walking in the garden of the church, you feel, as usual, as if time stopped 200 years ago.

Come dicevo, la piccola deviazione é diventata il nostro pomeriggio, perché guidando tra la lunga via che percorre questo paese, fatto solo di cottage e fattorie, ci siamo resi conto che le casette erano una piú bella dell'altra, che il silenzio e la pace che si respiravano assieme allo splendido sole e al cielo azzurro, meritavano di essere goduti a pieno. Ed é per questo che ringrazio Robbie Williams, perché se non fosse stato per sbirciare la sua (ex)casa non avremmo mai conosciuto questo minuscolo gioiellino immerso nel Wiltshire, abitato solo da circa 250 fortunatissimi abitanti.

As I said, this little deviation became in fact our afternoon, because driving through the long road that goes through this village, that is made only by cottages and farms, we realized that the houses were all beautiful and that the silence and peace of that place together with the sun and blue sky, were worth being properly enjoyed. So that is why I thank Robbie Williams, because if it wasn't for his (ex) house we would have never met this gorgeous little jewel in the middle of Wiltshire, where only roughly 250 lucky people live.

Cosí abbiamo parcheggiato, e passeggiato per quasi due ore, avanti e indietro per il lunghissimo villaggio, lentamente per assaporare tutto, i profumi, i colori, il silenzio, la primavera.

So we parked, and walked back and forth along the very long village for around two hours, slowly, to enjoy everything, the smells, the colours, the silence and spring.

I segni della primavera ci sono tutti. I narcisi che sbocciano ovunque, e colorano di giallo tutta la campagna inglese.

E i primi boccioli sugli alberi: rosa, bianchi, delicati, che contrastano magnificamente con la neutralitá dello sfondo di cottage antichi e pieni di storia.

Spring signs are all there. The daffodils are everywhere painting of yellow the british countryside.

And you can see the first flower buds on the trees: pink, white, delicate, that beautifully contrast on the neutral background of old cottages full of history.

I soliti colori che amo, i colori pastello, il verde salvia dei portoncini, il bianco dei muri, il rosa dei primi petali.

The usual colours that I love, pastel colours, sage green of the wooden doors, white of the walls, pink of the first flowers.

Case di pietra immerse in contesti idilliaci che non possono non fare innamorare.

Stone cottages in the middle of idyllic areas which you cannot avoid to fall in love with.

Angoli e dettagli che sembrano fatti apposta per essere ritratti in foto, per sorprendere e far dire "ooooh" "aaaaah" "uuuuuh" ai comuni mortali come noi..

Corners and details that seem to be there just to be portraid in pictures and to make normal people like us say "ooooh" "aaaaah" "uuuuh"..

E poi lui, anzi LUI. Mi dispiace e non me ne voglia nuovamente il sig. Williams, ma questo cottage per me é il vero gioiello di questo paesello. Non avrá 10 camere e 8 bagni, non avrá il campo da tennis e 20 acri di parco ma se avessi i soldi che ha Robbie Williams io preferirei vivere in questo "sogno" invece che nella sua mansione plurimilionaria. L'ho scorto dalla macchina mentre arrivavamo e mi sono appiccata al finestrino con il naso schiacciato come una bambina. Mi sembra la casetta di Biancaneve, probabilmente lo é. E' un sogno. Nulla di piú o di meno di un sogno.

And then this. Well THIS. I am sorry, and I hope Mr Williams won't mind, but for me, this cottage is the real jewel of this village. Maybe it doesn't have 10 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, it doesn't have tennis courts and 20 acres of woodland, but, if I had the money of Mr Williams, I'd rather live in a little "dream" like this instead of the multimillionaire mansion. I found it while driving to the village and I pressed my face on the car window, with the nose squashed on the glass like a little girl! It seems to me the house of the fairytales. It probably is. It's a dream. Nothing more or less than a dream.

vedere la casa fare piccoli progressi dopo mesi in cui é stata completamente ferma!

Sono sparita, lo so :( Non sono stata male, non ho avuto problemi, non sono scappata ai Caraibi ma grazie grazie grazie per i messaggini affettuosi, non sapete quanto mi SCALDANO il CUORE!

Semplicemente sono stata stracolma di cose da fare, piccoli e grandi ordini di amiche che aspettavano (e aspettano) dall'autunno, cose e problemi burocratici da risolvere, pensieri e progetti (belli, ma grossi) da studiare e realizzare, il blog, le mail, internet é passato in secondo, ultimo piano purtroppo. E oltre a questo, ammetto che non avevo niente, dico niente, da postare :( Nessuna nuova creazione (ma cosí tante idee...)

Nessun cambiamento in casa, nemmeno uno piccolo piccolo ... fino ad oggi, giornata in cui finalmente il sole splende (dopo due mesi di pioggia e grigio), il giardiniere sta lavorando per metterci a posto quel cantiere fangoso che abbiamo dietro casa, i mobili su misura che aspettavamo da un mese sono arrivati.. e la voglia di decorare e sistemare il nostro nido, anche se non ho tempo per farlo, ritorna!

Happiness is...

seeing the house taking slowly shape after months without any change!

I disappeared, I know :( I wasn't sick, I didn't have problems, I didn't escaped to caribbean islands but thank you so much for all the little worried and sweet messages you sent me, they WARMED my HEART!

I was just terribly busy with old cutom orders (since autumn) to complete, and bureaucratic stuff to sort out, and some big (and nice) projects to build and take care of. And I had nothing, I mean really nothing to post. No new crafts (but so many ideas..). No changes in the house.. at least until today, a day in which the sun is finally shining and the landscaper is starting to sort out the muddy area that "should" be our back garden, and in which we finally got some pieces of custom made furniture we were waiting for a while... and with all of this, I got new enthusiasm to decorate again!

Finalmente, anche se totalmente "nuda" e ancora piena di cose da mettere e cambiare (sono lenta, lo so, sono lenta) vi mostro la nostra camera!

E' tutto temporaneo e tutto "in progress"... tutto a parte lei, anzi LEI (il maiuscolo é d'obbligo)

la cassettiera che ho disegnato e fatto fare su misura e che é arrivata in tutta la sua dolcezza oggi. Io semplicemente la adoro! Quando l'ho vista scendere dal camion mi sono venuti gli occhi a cuore :)

Dovevamo per forza farcela fare su misura perché la stanza é lunga e stretta, non ci stanno cassettiere ai lati, e a fronte letto c'é l'armadio a muro. Ho cercato per mesi invano una cassettiera da mettere in fondo al letto di questa forma, ma ne ho trovate pochissime (sono quasi sempre bauli) e costosissime :( E quindi Wendy House ci ha salvati!

E' bella, grande, capiente e l'ho fatta dipingere in un beige/grigetto molto chiaro (skimming stone di Farrow&Ball), che é quasi identico ai muri. Ne sono cosí soddisfatta che non avete nemmeno idea!

Finally, even if it's still "naked" and "in progress" (I am slow, I know) I can show you our master bedroom!

Eeverything here is temporary and incomplete, expect "it", actually IT (uppercase is needed), the chest of drawers which I designed and had custom made and that, among other stuff, arrived today. And I simply love it! When it came down from the van I got my eyes immediately heart shaped :)

We had to have it custom made because of the shape of the room. It's a long and narrow room, there is no other place to put a chest of drawers, only at the bed end. I looked for a low and wide chest form months, but there are just a few of them and very expensive (it's easier to find trunks, but I needed actual drawers to put underwear, and clothes), so Wendy House came to the rescue!

It is big, roomy and I had it painted in a light natural/tan colour (Skimming Stone from Farrow&Ball) that matches the walls very well. You have no idea how happy I am about it!

Sta benissimo con il colore del muro e con il colore rovere antico/grigiastro del pavimento. Ma cozza alla grande con il letto, che da anni, anni ed anni devo ridipingere (ma poca voglia). Ho pensato di farlo bianco panna, poi ho pensato di farlo azzurro/grigio, infine sto meditando di farlo proprio come la cassettiera, un colore naturale e tenue che sta bene un pó con tutto.

Vedremo!

Le altre new entry in camera sono il lampadario e i pali delle tende, entrambi bianchi e cicciottosi, come piace a me. Mentre le tende sono assolutamente temporanee e riciclate dalle tende del salotto delle precedenti case. Sono pure spaiate, ma nei colori della camera, per fortuna ;)

It perfectly matchs both the wall paint and the flooring colour, that is a old/weathered oak style laminate. But it doesn't match at all with the bedframe, which I have been wanting to paint for years and years and years. I wanted to paint it white/ivory, then I considered french grey blue but now I am actually more prone on having it the same colour of the chest, as it's neutral and goes well with everything. We will see!

The other new entries in the bedroom are the chandelier lamp and the curtain poles, both white and rounded as I love. The curtains though, are absolutely temporary, they are old ones from our living rooms, and they are also mismatched, but luckily in the colours of the bedroom ;)

Le cose da fare in camera sono infinite....

alcune le ho raccolte qui sotto, ma ho solo l'imbarazzo della scelta su dove e da cosa iniziare.

Sicuramente una delle cose piú urgenti é dipingere il letto, lo odio in quel colore in questa stanza, come dicevo sopra, lavoro che proprio non mi invoglia affatto o_O

Poi, risolvere cosa fare con i comodini, sono spaiati, e ok ci puóstare, ma devo farli almeno dello stesso colore, che potrá essere bianco (specie se il letto sará beige) o azzurri/grigi (se il letto sará bianco). Mah!

Poi ovviamente decorare un pó le pareti! Dietro alla testata andrá il meraviglioso ed enorme angelo su pannello di legno fatto e regalatomi da Fiore a Natale. Lo vedete nella foto piú sotto. Esattamente i colori della camera, esattamente il mio stile e avere un angelo a proteggere le notti é una cosa che mi piace davvero. Non poteva farmi regalo migliore!

Nella parete vuota a fianco letto invece contavo di mettere una bella nuvola di cornici e cornicette sparpagliate con tante foto vecchie e nuove, magari in bianco e nero. Ci vorrá tempo per selezionarle e per creare un giusto design. Sembrano cose semplici, ma non lo sono.

Infine sopra la cassettiera vorrei mettere dei cuscini, o un bel cuscinone rettangolare, o magari due tre cuscini spaiati.

E poi... chi piú ne ha piú ne metta :)

The to do list is endless. Some of the ideas are collected down here, but there will be more things to do for sure.

The more urgent thing is to paint the bed, I hate it in that dark colour, but I am not looking forward to this job honestly o_O

Then I have to sort out the bedside tables, they are mismatched, and that can be fine, but at least the colour must be the same. I don't know, I'' probably paint them white (if the bedframe will be tan) or french grey blue (if the bed will be white).

Obviously I'll need to decorate the walls. Behind the bed there is the perfect spot for the angel wooden panel that my friend Fiore gave me as a gift (you see in the picture below). It's the perfect colours for the bedroom, it's totally my style and I really love the idea of having an angel to protect our sleep. She couldn't make a better gift for me!

In the empty wall beside the bed I want to put a big amount of little and big frames, with many new and old photogaphs, maybe in black and white. It will take a londg time to chose the pics and to sort out the design of this area.

And then, over the chest of drawers, I would like to make some sort of cushion, either a rectangular large one, or 2-3 three small ones.

Ecco il meraviglioso angelo di cui vi parlavo. Il design é della bravissima Fulvia, il cartamodello lo trovate nell'ultimo numero di Country Dreams. Me ne son innamorata al primo sguardo, e Fiore, che lo sapeva, ha colto l'occasione al balzo per farmi un regalo che non potevo non amare!

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and Fiore, knew this, so she took the occasion to make me a gift that I couldn't avoid to adore!
