Lazy summer days

Una meravigliosa domenica baciata dal sole. Caldo, sole, cielo azzurro senza una sola nuvola (evento rarissimo!!!), famiglia ed amici che ci sono venuti a trovare, risate, buon cibo e finalmente ci siamo gustati a pieno il nostro nuovo giardinetto.

Dopo un anno di lavori sembra incredibile poter dire "abbiamo finito!". Ricordare che fino a un paio di mesi fa il giardino era cosí e ora é un luogo adorabile dove trascorrere le giornate di sole che ci vengono concesse come vedete qui sotto!

A gorgeous sunny sunday! Warm temperatures, blue sky without one single cloud (a very rare event here in the UK) , family and some friends that came to visit us, laughs, good food and finally we enjoyed to the full our tiny sweet new garden.

After one year of refurbishment it seems amazing to be able to say "we eventually finished"! And it's so strange to remember that until a couple of months ago the garden situation was this one, and now it's a lovely place where to enjoy the few sunny days we are able to get, as you see down here!

Una giornata stupenda e da ricordare! Una buona grigliata, delle sdraio per godersi il caldo e assorbirne il piú possibile (dato che qui anche se non lo amo, ma cmq dura poco, anzi se n'é giá andato per la precisione e sto scrivendovi in maglioncino!), il tavolo da ping pong per divertirsi un pó e poi una bella passeggiata dei dintori (che presto vi mostreró) per digerire :)

An amazing day that I'll remember forever! A good barbecue, some deckchairs to relax and to get the most of the sun (as even if I am not a hot weather lover, I still need to get the most of the heat, as it goes away so quickly, actually, has already gone, as I am writing this post wearing leggings and a cardigan!), the table tennis table to have some fun and eventually a nice stroll around the area that surrounds us (that I will soon show you) to digest :)

E il "dietro le quinte", in cucina, con il solito topolino che si mangia le cose prima del dovuto ;)

And "behind the scenes" in the kitchen, a little mouse stealing the food ;)

Un bacione e scusate la poca presenza su internet... sapete che ogni tanto sono un pó cosí.. vado e vengo! la costanza nn é proprio uno dei miei pregi purtroppo, e quando sono piena di cose da fare e a cui pensare, faccio fatica a ritagliarmi il tempo per il blog e internet. e mi dispiace.. davvero tanto perché amo questo mio piccolo mondo!

A big kiss and apologies for being so absent lately. As you already know sometimes I disappear, as, when I am overwhelmed by thing s to do and to think about, I find it difficult to concentrate and devote time to the blog, and I am so sorry about it because I love this little world of mine!

Pinkness

Un pó di rosa, un pó di pinkness nn ha mai fatto male a nessuno ;)

non é necessario che la casa diventi una bomboniera (che anche se qualcuno puó pensarla diversamente, non é proprio il mio stile) ma qualche tocco qua e la', specie a primavera, non puó che regalare tenerezza e poesia.

A little bit of pinkness never caused any harm ;)

It's not necessary that the house become a little bon bon (even if somebody may disagree, that is not my style at all) but some pink touches, here and there, especially at spring, can only give some sweetness and some poetry.

Il salotto (assieme alla sala da pranzo) é l'unica stanza in casa nostra che ha dei tocchi rosa permanenti, le rose vintage del divano e qualche accessorio sui dresser. Per cui é sembrato naturale e scontato regalare un posto d'onore all'unica (per quest'anno) peonia delle mie giovani pianticine. La peonia piú bella ed enorme che abbia mai visto. Spero sia un buon presagio per la fioritura dell'anno prossimo!

The living room (together with the dining room) is the only room of our house with some permanent pink touches, like the vintage roses of the sofa and some accessories on the dressers. So it came natural and obvious to give a place of honour to my only (for this year) peony from my new plants in the garden. It is the biggest peony flower I have ever seen, I hope it's a good sign for next year flowers!

Mentre trapiantavo delle nuove ortensie rosa che vedrete in una foto piú sotto ci sono stati diversi caduti di guerra (leggasi piccole parti di pianta rotte), alcuni malandati li ho buttati, altri li ho conservati e sono stupendi come fiore da vasetto. Non tutto il male viene per nuocere.

While I was replanting my new hydrangeas (that you can see some pics below) I had some broken branches. Some of them I threw away while others are looking lovely and perfect in little jars like this down here. Sometimes good things come from bad things.

La cucina é per lo piú nei toni del rosso e del verde salvia, e non pensavo, ad essere sincera, ma trovo che qualche tocco di rosa non sta affatto male anche in questo contesto. I tulipani rosa e altri "caduti" di guerra del trapianto delle ortensie. Basta dare uno sguardo a questi fiori e si respira subito aria di primavera, ormai quasi estate!

The kitchen has a red and sage green colour scheme, but I noticed that some pink touches are really nice in here as well. Like the pink tulips on the table and other broken branches of Hydrangeas. You only need to have a look at these lovely flower to feel springy, almost summery!

Anche in giardino ci sono state evoluzioni pink! La meravigliosa stupenda incantevole rosa queen of sweden della mia giovane piantina é sbocciata! ed é una delle cose piú belle che abbia visto in vita mia. La natura.....

E le ortensie rosa (per ora... speriamo che rimangano di questo colore! visto le esperienze precedenti con le altre eheheh) che danno praticamente luce a tutto il giardino!

Also in the garden there have been some pink evolution! The beautiful enchanting gorgeous Queen of Sweden rose has bloomed from my young plant! And honestly, it's one of the most beautiful things I have seen in my life. Wow... nature....

And the pink Hydrangeas (pink for now, and I hope they will stay like this, given my past experiences LOL) that give light to all the garden!

E per oggi é tutto! sono finalmente tornata online dopo un periodo impegnativo tra uk e italia e dopo un periodo senza pc causa rottura del portatile ora per fortuna guarito :)

Cornwall part 3

Dato che in questi giorni sono in Italia per il solito w.e./tour de force trimestrale, ne ho aprofittato per programmare questo post durante la mia assenza...

Continua il reportage della nostra vacanzina in Cornovaglia, sperando di non annoiarvi ma di farvi respirare un pó di quell'aria magica di quei luoghi che tanto amo!

Eccoci al terzo appuntamento! Un piccolo reportage per raccontarvi di altri posticcini che abbiamo visitato... prima che la memoria inizi a fare cilecca :)

As during these days I am in Italy for a short holiday, I took advantage and I scheduled a programmed post during my absence..

The reportage from Cornwall is not over yet, I hope I will not bore you, but I hope instead to be able to make you breath some magic cornish air and atmosphere!

This is the third appointment! A little reportage to tell you about other places we visited... before memory starts to fail!

Eccoci a Fowey, cittadina carina, molto vivace, non spettacolare ad essere sincera ma con taaanti negozietti molto interessanti (qui ho preso qualche souvenir che presto vi mostreró)!

Here we are in Fowey, a nice little town, very lively, not amazing to be honest but full of little quaint shops that I loved (and where I bought some little things I will soon show you)!

E con scorci come quelli qui sotto, che giá da soli le fanno meritare una visita. Cosa puó fare una fila di bandierine rosse a pois eh???

And also with some little corners like these ones below that are worthwhile a visit. What can a red polka dots bunting do!!!

E poi Mevagissey, ennesimo porticciolo, con stupendo e caratteristico faro annesso (impossibile non immortalarlo!!!). Anche qui cittadina carina, viuzze piccole molto interessanti e anche qui un sacco di negozietti adorabili e pericolosissimi per il portafoglio!!!

And then Mevagissey, another harbour village, with a lovely and very quaint lighthouse. Here you will again find little lanes and lots of lovely shops very dangerous for the wallet!!!

Passando dalle cose piú venali a quelle piú romantiche, ecco due delle mie spiagge preferite!

Anzi, questa é la mia preferita in assoluto, e penso di essere in buona compagnia a pensarla cosí. Portchurno é un luogo davvero speciale, una baia circondata da alte scogliere con una spiaggia dai granelli dorati e luminosi e l'acqua trasparente azzurro turchese...

Going from material things to romantic subjects here are two of my favourite beaches in all Cornwall! Actually this is my favourite ever, and I suppose I am not the only one thinking this. Porthcurno is a special place, a cove surrounded by cliffs, with a light gold sandy beach and a crystal clear torquaise water...

E Sennen Cove. Anche qui sabbia dorata e mare cristallino. La spiaggia é molto piú grande peró, e quindi anche molto esposta e ventosa. L'abbiamo visitata la mattina del ritorno, proprio mentre stava per iniziare il Royal Wedding (che ci ha poi tenuto compagnia con la bbc radio al ritorno in autostrada!) e cosí ce la siamo goduta praticamente deserta.. bello e quasi surreale!

And finally Sennen Cove. Golden sandy beach and crystal clear water here as well. But the beach is much wider and more windy. We visited the last day, in the royal wedding morning (that kept us company on bbc radio coming back home on the motorway!) so it was almost desert ... nice and a bit surreal!

Bedroom: little details

In mancanza d'altro oggi vi mostro di corsa qualche piccolo dettaglio aggiunto in camera.. qualche scorcio per non lasciare il blog in silenzio!

Proprio questo w.e. ho preso questa caraffa, appena l'ho vista, con quei pois azzurri, beige, blue e marroni, ho pensato alla nostra camera. Non sembra fatta apposta?

Qualche fiore (finto o vero a seconda della stagione) e sará perfetta. E' l'unica cassettiera che ho in camera e anche se é piú una cassapanca che una cassettiera non voglio rinunciare a qualche piccolo decoro.

I don't have anything else to show you at the moment so I'' show some new little details from the bedroom!

This w.e. I found in a shop the lovely jug you see down here. As soon as I saw it I thought about our bedroom, because of the light blue, blue, beige and brown colours. Doesn't it look custom made?

I guess that with some (real or fake, depending on the season) flower inside it will look spot on. It's the only chest of drawer I have in the bedroom, and even if it's more of a trunk than a chest of drawers I didn't want to give up on some little decorations on it.

Come promesso le pareti non resteranno vuote e tristi ma pian piano aggiungeró cosine (poche ma buone) qua e la'. Intanto questa corona a cuore, che avevo anche nell'altra casa. Non é molto lo so, ma passo dopo passo la stanza prenderá forma. Ci vogliono pazienza e tempo (mi mancano entrambi!!!)

Le foto non sono il massimo, grige e scurette, perché il tempo negli ultimi giorni nn é stato proprio clemente qui...

As promised I am starting to decorate the empty walls. For now just a little add on, a heart shaped wreath I already had in the previous house bedroom. It's not much, I know, but slowly this bedroom will take shape. I need patience and time (and I lack both of them!!!)

The pictures are not that good, dark and greyish, that is because lately the weather has not been that great here...

E vi presento la regina della camera, o meglio la regina del lettone. Ecco la cucciona della Penny, che, chiaramente si abbina al resto, oltre a essere morbida e comodissima!

Questa, che noi chiamiamo "il trono" (e ditemi se non lo é!!!) é una delle sue postazioni notturne preferite, quando non é tra le nostre gambe o sotto le coperte con noi!

And here is the real queen of the bedroom, actually yhe bed queen. Here is Penny's cat, which obviously colour matches the rest of the room, and is very soft and comfy too! We call it "the throne" (and tell me if we are wrong!!!) and it is one of her favourite night locations, when she is not among our legs or under the sheets with us!

Sto partendo per qualche giorno in italia che come sempre non é vacanza ma una specie di "missione impossibile" tante sono le cose da fare in pochi gg! Ci sentiremo appena rientro! Per qualche giorno avró poco o nullo accesso a internet, quindi come al solito tarderó parecchio nella risposta di eventuali mail (oltre ad essere come sempre in grosso ritardo con alcune di quelle arrivate nelle ultime due settimane)

I am leaving for a few days in Italy, as usual it's not a holiday but a "mission impossible" given the amount of things to do in a short time! I'll be back soon and if you write to me in the meantime, please be aware that it will take me a while to get back to you.
