The bride kit - ready to go!

Manca ormai una settimana! Oh mamma mia!!! Il panico puro é arrivato e la mattina mi sveglio piú tesa della sera O_O

Al solo pensiero di essere al centro dell'attenzione mi viene un'ansia incredibile. Io ODIO essere al centro dell'attenzione.... a me piace stare in un angolino e non essere notata... ma stavolta mi tocca proprio...

Per fortuna sono cosí impegnata nei preparativi che non ho tempo di pensarci (e poi diciamocelo.. piú cosine carine faccio e piú, spero, le persone guarderanno intorno e non me hihihii).

Lunedí si vola in Italia, quindi devo finire quasi tutto entro domenica, impacchettare tutto, compreso il povero vestito che andrá spiaccicato dentro un piccolo trolley e mettermi il cuore in pace: quello che sono riuscita a fare/creare bene, e il resto pazienza!!!

Oggi vi mostro il mio "kit da sposa" :)

Only one week to go! Oh my God!!! Pure panic has arrived and in the morning I wake up even more nervous than the night before O_O

If only I think about being at the centre of the attention on that day I start to hyperventilate... I hate to be at the centre of the attention, I love to stay in my corner and to go unnoticed... but this time I can't really avoid this...

Luckily I am so busy making stuff that I don't even have time to think about it, and then, I will admit it: I am thinking that the more pretty things I make the less people will be staring at me but hopefully will be caught by all the details around LOL :)

We are leaving for Italy on monday, so I have to finish everything by sunday, I have to package everything, including the poor dress which will have to be squashed inside a small trolley and I will have to think that whatever it's done it's done, and whatever hasn't been done... that's fine!

Today I'll show you my "bridal kit" :)

Borsa in iuta (comprata) che ho decorato con la famosa stoffina di tulle a pois di cui molte si erano innamorate! Una semplice rosa di stoffa e un pó di bordino a uncinetto.

Un bel mix di rustico chic a mio parere, che é un pó tutto lo stile che vorrei per il matrimonio (e per l'arredamento e per tutto, se non si era capito!)

Sará la mia borsa per la giornata con dentro le mie cosine. Mi piace un sacco :)

A burlap/hessian bag (bought) that I decorated with the polka dots tulle fabric I showed you some posts ago! With a simple fabric rose and some pretty crocheted ribbon.

A nice rustic/chic mix in my opinion, that is the style I love more.

It will be my bag for the day, with all my stuff inside. I love it so much :)

La pochette di lanetta abbinata per non perdere le cose in borsa che ho creato con il solito pattern della Curvy Clutch di Keyka Lou. E le ballerine per il dopo-tacchi. Eh si perché quel giorno avró, ahime', i tacchi (quelle che avevate intravisto qualche post fa non erano ballerine anche se chissá perché molte lo pensavano!) e quindi quando i miei piedini diranno "basta!!!" si passerá a queste ballerine da quattro soldi comprate su ebay e decorate con la stoffa dell'abito e il tulle a pois, usando le apposite clips per scarpe. Carine no?

And the matching wool pouch to keep the smaller things. The pattern is the usual Keyka Lou Curvy Clutch. And the flats for the "after heels". Yes, because the shoes I showed you some posts ago have a medium heel and I don't think I will be able to keep them all day long, so when my feet will say "no more!" I will change into this cheap flats bought from ebay which I decorated with a couple of bow using the dress fabric and the polka dots tulle. Aren't they cute?

Tutto é pronto (o quasi) per una bella giornata di festa, possibilmente con un pó di sole e temperature miti per divertirsi e stare all'aperto.. ma se cosí non fosse, non ci faremo trovare impreparati ;)

Everything is ready (more or less) for a lovely party, possibly with some sun and good temperature to enjoy the outdoors.... but if it won't be like that, well, we won't be caught off guard ;)

E con questo é tutto. La settimana prossima saremo in giro come trottole per gli ultimi appuntamenti e organizzazione cose logistiche. Per cui penso che ci si sentirá dopo la nostra festa!

Eh si perché lunedí 10 saremo di nuovo in terra british. Molte mi han chiesto riguardo il viaggio di nozze. Purtroppo per una marea di motivi (organizzativi perché non abbiamo avuto tempo ed energie di pensare anche a quello, pratici perché nicola non ha piu ferie, qui non esiste la licenza matrimoniale e le ferie ce le siamo mangiate tutte per le visite in italia per parenti/amici e organizzazione matri, burocratici perché non ho avuto tempo di sistemare il passaporto o di fare il visto, che di giri a londra ne abbiamo fatti anche troppo in consolato per le scartoffie matrimoniali, logistici perché stiamo giá via una settimana per il matrimonio e ci spiace stare lontani dalla penny troppo a lungo, anche se abbiamo amici che la curano e coccolano, e metereologici perché a fine ottobre, non amando noi le spiagge e i posti tropicali, non ci sarebbe stato moltissimo da fare almeno di non volersi prendere il freddo) non andremo via subito, ma contiamo di aspettare la bella stagione, in primavera, per fare il nostro viaggio dei sogni, una luna di miele in differita a New York e nel New England.. chissá se ci riusciremo???

And that's it for today. Next week we will go around like crazy to get the last things done and to organize everything. So I suppose I will be there again after the wedding. Yes, because on monday the 10th we'll be back again in the UK. many of you asked me about the honeymoon, well unfortunately, due to many many reasons (we didn't have time nor strenght to organize that as well, we don't have any more days of leave because we used all of them for trips in italy to organize the wedding, I didn't have time to get visas and sort out the passport, we are already leaving penny with our friend for one week during the wedding and we don't want to prolong that too much and finally, at the end of october the weather is not so good to visit where we want to go, and we don't like tropical and beach places) we are going on a honeymoon straight away, but if we manage to organize and sort everything out, we will hopefully do the journey of our dreams (new york+new england) next spring. Will we make it???

ps: Comunicazione di serivizio: ricordo alle tante persone che mi hanno scritto mail nelle ultime 2-3 settimane (tra cui molte di carinissime e dolcissime di auguri!!!!) che purtroppo non ho nemmeno un attimo di tempo per rispondere ora e non risponderó fino a dopo il matrimonio. Grazie per la comprensione e la pazienza!!! ...prima o poi arrivo eh!!!

The wedding factory

Come prevedibile son sparita per un pó e temo sará cosí fino al matrimonio. In questo periodo la casa si é trasformata in una "wedding factory".. una vera e propria fabbrica per il matrimonio. Con lavoro stile catena di montaggio e roba sparsa letteralmente ovunque! Il matrimonio e i suoi preparativi hanno ufficialmente invaso la nostra casa e la nostra vita :)

Come prevedibile, ovviamente, ho anche sottovalutato il tutto O_O in particolare la quantitá di cose da fare dato che non avendo quasi mai lavorato su bomboniere e simili non avevo in mente la fatica, la noia e la frustrazione di lavorare per ore ed ore sulla stessa cosa.

Quando si vuole fare quasi tutto da sé (un pó per risparmiare ma soprattutto per avere cose uniche e personalizzate) si sa che questo é il rovescio della medaglia.

Ma in qualche modo si fará!

Vi lascio con qualche scorcio dei preparativi. Come vedete: tanta iuta (troppa, ora la odiooooooo), colori pastello (rosa beige marrone e pesca, i miei preferiti da sempre e perfetti come toni autunnali!), tanti alberi e uccellini (anche questo un eterno favorito nelle mie creazioni) e tanta dolcezza! Chiaramente non posso mostrarvi di piú per non rovinare la sorpresa alle amiche della "vita reale" che ogni tanto leggono il blog e che saranno presenti alla nostra festa, ma prometto che dopo il fatidico giorno vi mostreró tutto nel dettaglio!

As expected, I disappeared for a while and I am afraid it will be like this until the wedding. In the last weeks the house has turned into a proper "wedding factory". I am working like in an assembly chain and there is stuff spread everywhere! The wedding and all the things related to it have officially invaded our house and our lives :)

Well, when you want to make everything handmade (to save some money but mostly to have things cutomized and unique) this is the price to pay.

But I will make it!

I'll leave you some sneak peeks from the stuff I have made so far in my wedding factory. As you can see there will be a lot of burlap (too much actually, now I can't stand it anymore!!!), pastel colours (my ever favourites pink, peach, beige and brown), many birds and trees (another ever favourite in my crafts) and a lot of sweetness. I can't obviously show you more because many friends of the "real life" read sometimes my blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise to them. But after the big day I will show you everything, I swear!

Concludo con due righe sull'ultimo post sulla craft room. Volevo ringraziarvi (se potessi vi abbraccerei una ad una) per tutti i commenti e per i complimenti fatti!!! davvero non sapete che gioia dato che ci ho messo mesi a sistemarla cosi com'é ora, é stato un lavoraccio ma sono davvero soddisfatta, perché é vero, e ve lo dice una che ha lavorato in cucina (anzi nell'UNICA microstanza-giorno del bilocale minuscolo in cui vivevo in affitto in italia) per anni e so che lavorare in una stanza cosí rende tutto piú semplice e agevole.

Non mi sono dimenticata della promessa fatta, solo che al momento non ho assolutamente tempo per nulla (nemmeno per rispondere alle mail delle ultime settimane, che temo, dovranno aspettare fino al matrimonio, perdonatemi) ma dopo il fatidico giorno, mi metto di impegno e vi racconto un pó tutto, come ho creato le varie lavagne, il copriasse, come ho organizzato le scatole, come ho fatto le etichette, come ho sistemato le cose nelle varie librerie ecc.ecc. Il tutto naturalmente quasi 100% fai da te e con materiali super economici (ikea santa subito!!!!). Insomma spero di potervi dare un pó di dritte e idee!

Just a few words about the last post with my craft room. I just wanted to thank you from my heart for all the amazing comments and sweet words! You really have no idea how happy I am you appreciated and understood all the work and effort I put into the organization of that room. It was really hard work but I am so happy and satisfied now. And, as I have been a kitchen-table-crafter for many years (actually, not even kitchen, as I was living in a studiohouse with only a tiny livingroom/kitchen and I used to work in there) I appreciate even more the difference it makes to work in a proper room, it makes everything easier, I know.

Anyway, I didn't forget the promises I made, and, as soon as the wedding will be over (currently I don't have one single spare moment, and also the mails of the last weeks will have to wait after the wedding I am afraid) I will tell you more about the room. About the way I made the boards, the ironing table cover, about the way I organized and labeled the boxes, about the way I stored the things in the bookshelves etc. Everything in a diy way (as usual) and with little money (thanks to ikea).

Well, I hope I will give you some ideas and inspirations!

The craft room

E finalmente.. eccola! Lo so.. si é fatta attendere piú dell'abito da sposa di Kate Middleton ma alla fine sono riuscita a finirla (piu o meno) e a sistemarla (piú o meno)!

Cercheró di perdermi in poche parole dato che penso che giá 16 foto siano piú che sufficienti ad annoiarvi!!! Ho scremato il piú possibile, ma é una stanzina strapiena in ogni angolo ed é difficile mostarvela tutta e farci stare tutto quello che contiene in poche foto. Per cui oggi vi mostro un pó di visioni di insieme, da varie angolature e qualche dettaglio.

E nei prossimi post, vi parleró di come l'ho organizzata, anche negli interni, cosa tengo dove ecc., sperando di potervi dare qualche idea, consiglio o ispirazione.

And eventually, here it is... the craft room! I know... it's been waited for longer than the wedding dress of Kate Middleton but finally I was able to organize it (more or less) and tidy it up (more or less)!

I will try not to talk too much as I guess 16 pics are boring enough on their own!!! I tried to minimize the number of pics to upload but it was difficult as the room is completely full in every corner.

So today I will show you some overall views and some details, and in the next posts I will show you and talk to you about the way I organized everything, hoping to give just a bit of ideas, inspirations and advice.

Come vedete la disposizione dei tavoli é a "U", la stessa che avevo adottato nell'altra casa e che penso sia la piú comoda per potersi muovere facilmente da un'area all'altra (in particolare GRAZIE alla sedia da ufficio con le rotelline, mai piú senza!!!). Qui sotto. sul tavolo principale ci sono la zona pc + stampante e la zona macchina da cucire.

As you see the tables layout is a "U" shape. I used to have it in the previous house as well and I find it the best layout, especially with an office wheeled chair (my best friend!!!) to move from an area to the other. Down here you can see the table with the pc+printer area and next to it the sewing machine area.

Dietro di me le tre librerie ikea (ora purtroppo fuori produzione sigh) contententi stoffe, libri, pattern piú i materiali piú svariati, tutti rigorosamente nascosti e organizzati in altrettante scatole ikea bianche etichettate in verde.

Behind me you will find three Ikea bookshelves (now discontinued...) with fabric, books and many other materials organized and hidden in white Ikea boxes with green labels.

L'angolo alla mia sinistra, per il taglio e la preparazione delle stoffe. Vi posso assicurare che non riesco MAI a vedere il tappetino per intero ne' la cerata verde salvia in questa zona perché questa é anche, ahime', la zona dell'accumulo casino stile torre di babele (quando la roba inizia a cadermi addosso o quando ho meno di 20 cm quadrati liberi di tappetino, tocca proprio sistemare.. ^_^)

Sul retro un armadio a muro che peró contiene cose di casa, non é di pertinenza craft.

On the corner to my left, there is the area for cutting and preparing fabric. I can assure you that I usually can NEVER see the whole cutting mat nor the colour of the oilcloth on the table... that is because this is the area of the mess build up, almost like a tower (usually when the fabric and stuff starts to fall down on me or when I can see less than 20 square cm of cutting mat, well, I know it's time to tidy up!!! ^_^)

On the back there is a built in wardrobe, but it's filled with household stuff, nothing crafty.

No, credetmi, non é mai cosí :((( ! Di solito é GIUSTAMENTE piena di orridi (ma utilissimi) fogli e foglietti accatastati e incastrati e ingraffettati tra loro.... ma per la foto, mi sembrava carino mostrarvela in uno dei momenti migliori, piena solo di qualche appunto e di cose carine! Un pó di styling secondo me non fa mai male... in fondo siamo tutte qui per sognare (o per lo meno, non so voi, ma io navigo per sognare e svagarmi e cercare ispirazione)

Unfortunately, believe me, it's never like this :(((! As it's obvious it's usually completely full of a thousand little and big pieces of paper, notes, receipts etc. ... but to take the picture, I thought it would have been nice to show it in its best moment, only filled with cute stuff.! A little bit of styling never hurt anyone in my opinion.... at the end of the day, I think all of us are here to dream (or at least, I surf the net to dream, to enjoy myself and to be inspired)

Forse vi ricorderete che in craft room ho ben due postazioni per la Penny, la mia prima assistente (come potete vedere qui)... beh da qualche settimana ho creato la seconda assistente, che avrá un posto d'onore in una mensola in alto, per supervisionare tutto quello che creo e combino, e per sgridarmi quando perdo tempo e sono pigra ;)

La mia seconda assistente é alta (65 cm!!!!), snella ma dalle forme mediterranee (che fianchi!) e vestita rigorosamente in tinta con la stanza dove vivrá.

Maybe you will remember that in my craft room I have two locations for my assistant Penny (as you can see here).. well a couple of weekes ago I created my second assistant, which will have a special place on a top shelf, where she will be able to overlook everything I do and create and to tell me off when I am lazy :)

My second assistant is very tall (65cm!!!) and thin, but she has mediterranean shapes (pear shaped) and she is dressed with matching colours to my room.

Mi fa tornare bambina, quando la prendo tra le braccia, cosí grande e bella!

E' il secondo lavoro che creo dall'ultimo libro di Tilda, ovvero Tilda's Studio. Il primo, sempre per la craft room, era questo angioletto che vedete qui.

She makes me go back to childhood, it's so nice to hug her, so huge and handsome!

It's the second craft I make from the new Tilda's Studio book. The first one, was for the craft room as well, and it is this cute chubby angel you can see here.

Autumn crop

E' ormai praticamente autunno (specie qui) e dalla finestra della craft room vedo l'albero nel giardino dei vicini strapieno di mele che si colorano di rosso giorno dopo giorno... quale migliore ispirazione per divertirsi con le stoffine colorate e creare una mela e una pera imbottita, rigorosamente in tinta con i colori della mia craft room.... il mio raccolto autunnale :)

It's almost autumn (especially here) and from my craft room window I can see the apple tree in the neighbours garden that is completely full of ripening red apples... that was the inspiration to enjoy myself with my beloved fabrics and create these two fruits down here, one apple and one pear in the colours of my craft room of course.. my autumn crop :)

Era da molto che pensavo a che soggetto usare per i nuovi cuscini porta spilli e porta aghi di cui la mia craft room necessitava ormai da tempo e cosí, sfruttando l'ispirazione data dalla natura, le stoffine in tinta con i colori della craft room (rosso e verde salvia) e soprattutto i carinissimi tutorials gratuiti (che trovate qui: mela e pera) la settimana scorsa ho prodotto questa mela porta spilli e questa pera porta aghi!

I had decide what subjects to use to make some new pins and needles cushions that I needed for the craft room, so I took advantage of the inspiration given by nature, of the coloured fabrics I love, and especially of these lovely free tutorials (you can find here: apple and pear) and last week I created this apple pin cushion and this pear needle cushion!

Sono venute, come vedete dalle immagini, decisamente piú "ciccione" e tarchiate delle originali del tutorial e penso che il motivo sia il fatto che io, al modello, ho aggiunto i margini di cucitura, mentre probabilmente erano giá compresi... ma non importa perché mi piacciono moltissimo anche cosí!

As you can see they came out much more fatty and chubby than the original ones from the patterns, and I suppose this is due to the fact I added the seam allowance outside of the pattern outline, and it probably wasn't necessary, but never mind, I love them this way as well!

ps sono in ritardissimo con le mail... lo so.. portate pazienza che arrivo (spero!!!)

Pink packaging

E come promesso oggi vi mostro un pó di pacchettini (tutti rigorosamente PINK!) fatti qualche mese fa in occasione del battesimo di Emma.

Questo sacchettino qui sotto l'ho fatto con un pó di lino color ecru e uno dei timbri che avevo creato io tempo fa (vedi qui)... finalmente ho avuto l'occasione perfetta per usarlo :)

Ho aggiunto una piccola tag di carta creata con photoshop e stampata su cartoncino.

As promised today I`ll show you some packaging (totally and absolutely PINK!!!) that I made some months ago for the Christening of my goddaughter Emma.

This one down here is made with some natural linen and a stamp I had handcarved some time ago (see here)... I eventually got the right occasion to use it :)

I then added a small tag that I created on Photoshop and printed on card paper.

Ne é venuta fuori una piccola confezione semplice ma dolce, perfetta per contenere la scatolina di una collanina che abbiamo regalato alla nostra figlioccia (collanina che potete vedere qui nel post di Marty assieme agli altri regali handmade anche da Fiore).

It came out a nice simple and sweet packaging, perfect for the box of the necklace we gave to our goddaughter (you can see the necklace in this post of Marty, together with the other handmade gifts from Fiore as well).

E ovviamente, per le mie "nipotine" ogni occasione é buona per qualche regalino dalla zia d'Inghilterra (un pó come la zia d'America no???)! Ed ecco, due borsine di carta, decorate in velocitá, contenenti qualche pensierino per la piccola Elisa (bimba di Fiore) e la piccola Emma (bimba di Marty).

And obviously, when I see Elisa and Emma, the two babygirls of my friends Fiore and Marty, every occasion is the right one to give them some little gifts from the "english aunt".. so I added some decorated bags with some small presents for these two princesses!

E qui tutte assieme... un trio rustico e dolce, per delle vere principessine!

Baby soft book

Eccomi qui di nuovo!

In questo periodo come immaginerete sono molto occupata per i preparativi per il matrimonio, ma per fortuna ho molti lavori arretrati di cui non avevo mai avuto tempo di sistemare foto e preparare post.. quindi insomma, penso di riuscire a tenervi un pó di compagnia :)

Oggi vi mostro il soft book che ho fatto per la piccola emma, la bimba della mia grande amica marty. E' stato parte dei regali per il suo battesimo. Un momento importante in cui ho avuto l'onore di essere stata scelta, assieme a fiore, come madrina. Questa era la piccola parte handmade dei regali fatti! Da tempo volevo fare un libretto di stoffa e questa é stata l'occasione giusta per sperimentarlo ;)

Non ho seguito nessun pattern perché devo dire che é abbastanza semplice ed inuitivo da costruire e strutturare, ma ahimé, temo sará il primo e l'ultimo mai fatto, perché il risultato finale, anche se carino, non ripaga davvero le troppe ore passate ad applicare ed a ricamare a mano tutte le scrittine e i dettagli (eh si lo ammetto, non sono appassionata di ricamo e stitichery!!! é rilassante ma ci vuole troppo troppo tempo, che non ho)! Ma per la mia figlioccia questo ed altro ovviamente :)

Here I am again!

At the moment, as you can imagine, I am completely busy with the wedding preparation, but luckily I have many pictures of crafts made in the past months, that I never had time to prepare for a post. So I think I will be able to keep you company in the next weeks!

Today I'll show you a soft book I have made for the little emma, the daughter of my big friend marty, in occasion of her christening, in which I was lucky and honoured enough to have been chosen as a godmother together with our friend fiore! This was the small handmade part of my gifts to emma.

I have been wanting to make a soft book for a long time, and finally I got the right occasion to experiment. I didn't follow any pattern, It's just very simple to build honestly... the thing is, though, that I think it will be the first one and the last one I ever make, because the result, although pretty, is really not worth all the time and effort spent in the appliques and especially in all the handmade stitcheries (yes I admit it, I am not keen in stitcheries, they are relaxing to make but it takes too much time!!!). But for my goddaughter this and even more than this!!!

Pure sweetness

E' sempre lui, visto e rivisto, fatto e rifatto, ma io continuo ad amarlo incondizionatamente! E cosí pare anche le mie lettrici e clienti, che spesso mi chiedono di riprodurlo, il dolcissimo agnellone Tilda (dal libro "Crafting Springtime gifts"), per lo piú per regalini di nascita (trovo sia adorabile e azzeccatissimo)

Questa volta ho provato, sotto richiesta, la versione in beige, e ne sono totalmente innamorata. E' la fine del mondo abbinato a righine e quadretti color naturale... Un agnellone "abbronzato" e super dolce!!!

It's always him, already well know and crafted many times, but I still love him so much. It's the Tilda lamb (from the "Crafting springtime gifts" book) and many readers/clients often ask me to make him, especially for newborn babies gifts.

This time, under request, I tried the beige version, and I fell in love with this new style. It's so cute with the matching gingham and stripes natural fabric... I like this "suntanned" version, it's super sweet!!!
